Where is everyone,it's been pretty quiet around here?

Posted by: John Cena---------------------

HEHE I been out shoting targets, coyote, goose hunting at my uncles farms got a nice goose for christmas dinner Gotta do something when you got no bike to tear up the backroads.

Posted by: Oldschooldeathwish---------------------

i just started working again so it will be a few weeks/ month

Posted by: Milhaus---------------------

Hey guys, long time no speak!
I've been busy focussing on my career (yah right but still gotta work to pay the bills! ), took a vacation in Dominican Republic, and have been working on my basement Home Theater project, which is coming along nicely. The previous owner really butchered the drywall so under harsh lighting its still gonna look rough, but with out taking it all down and putting up new drywall and tape, its about as good as its gonna be. So we're going to paint it this weekend, and I'll be setting up the A/V over the next week or so...should be pretty kick ass...80in screen, lots of speakers, and a Velodyne sub that will shake the pictures off the walls

Which reminds me, its been a while since we all had a get together, so to "baptize" the new HT I'm thinking of having some good folks over around the end of Jan to watch some flicks. Maybe Fantastic Four (its supposed to have some MX action in it as I think thats what Johnny Flame or whatever his name is does), and I also picked up Playboy's "Girls of Motocross" the other day, just for a lark, lol. Or whatever else anyone wants to watch in my dvd collection.
Stay posted for updates!

As to biking, havent been too active although just before xmas I almost took out the CR for a run, but then it snowed again
So, I'll work on mods instead....Got a gripper seat (shaved down, but maybe a bit too much), Pro Circuit shorty pipe, and seriously hunting for some stiffer springs. Gonna try out a Kehin carb on it too, or re-jet the Mikuni.
Thats about all, everyone have a great New Year and dont do anything too stupid

Lars

Sounds good Milly. I think end of January sounds like a good idea

Posted by: mike black---------------------

well guys i had the crf450r out x-mas eve on my dads farm. than soon found out that the snow in the felid was a little to deep still, so i just pissed around on the back road doing wheelies and stopei's alot of fun but never got to do any jumps (it took me almost 2/h to get that 4 stroker going!) but in late feb or mar if i'm still laid off or don't have a new job i might go down to the usa but i still don't know and if any one finds a 14' inclosed trailer let me know thanks

Hey everyone,

Now that the Christmas mess is over it's finally time to start thinking about me again.

I got a new set of booties under the tree.
Anyone else get dirt stuff?

I also got out just before the snows came (and stayed) and got some decent photos and some vids to hold me over till spring.
Unfortunately, somehow I got a nasty big ding in my front rim issed: and it must be replaced before I do any jumping or high speed stuff, humm, riding...

Speedfreeks keeping a eye out for a rim or hoop for me, and if anyone else comes across anything for a 250 YZ, please let me know.

Posted by: Speedfreek---------------------

Hey I-955, I was sitting here thinking..........I know uh-oh,lol
Wouldn't one of my old 89 front "hoops" work ? Couldn't it be used with your spoke hub combo?

Posted by: i_955---------------------

hehe, thats what I like about you, always thinking lol.

That is a good question, I thought that if anyone would know it would be you.

I'll count the spoke holes today.

Posted by: Speedfreek---------------------

Ok,I'll count mine

Thanks Mike, I've browsed The-Bay but have heard a story or two about high shipping costs on rims. I'll check local first to see it someone has one in their basement collecting dust.

Congrats on the pipe, I always thought and read the 450's were monster powerhouses. Is it one of those big performance/noise increaser or a big performance/noise reducers?
By suspension done do you mean clean/service or revalved/resprung?

Posted by: Speedfreek---------------------

I-955, I just compared my 89 rim and my 2004 rim, both rims look to have the same size nipples and both have 36 holes.I would think it would work for you

Posted by: John Cena---------------------

Hello Everyone!! Is anyone else getting a huge itch to ride? I am the kids are starting to fly up my street on them mini 2 strokes. Suppose to be plus +5 +8 all week

Posted by: MX Junkie---------------------

Since November. MX on the brain 24/7!

Posted by: John Cena---------------------

When does everyone plan to start riding again?

Posted by: MX Junkie---------------------

As soon as the temp stays above +5, Pick up my bike and get a ride to the track.

Posted by: John Cena---------------------

Hehe I bet everyone wishes they were riding out in this heat. Sure is nice in that sun. +12 today wow

Posted by: i_955---------------------

Hey John Cena,
It's been so long I think I've forgotten how to ride.
All the tracks are closed, the trails are mud where the sun hits them are glare ice in the shade, the lakes aren't safe and the beers are cold.

Great to be Canadian eh?

Posted by: John Cena---------------------

Hey where is everyone? C'mon even the bears are up now. Anyone got some pics from riding this year? Look the grass is green the trees have leaves time to get on the trails.

Posted by: i_955---------------------

Looks like a good day to be rippin up the trails.

Hows the bike and how do you like it compared to the KDX?

Posted by: John Cena---------------------

Hello i_955!

The YZ250 has defiantly got more power everywhere compared to the KDX. The 2001 yzf450 forks work great, but the rear shock is to slow on rebound for trails it might be because the oils cold. It also wants to stall when slowing down going into a tight corner. I think I'll be getting an 8 or 10 oz flywheel weight to help reduce the stalling in tight corners.

All in all I'm happy!

Posted by: i_955---------------------

You have the rebound (bottom screw) turned out?
You can also tighten the spring so that it sits higher in the stroke.
Don't know the spec height on yours but 95-105mm is critical on mine.

That is what I like about the mx bikes, they are easier to soften for trail riding than a trail bike is to stiffen for mx.

I've never tried a FFW but the clutch works pretty good as a anti-stall devise also.

Posted by: John Cena---------------------

Ok, it looks like none is going to keep this forum alive. I'll have to post some bike pics. I painted my handler bars, flywheel cover ,clutch actuator arm and silencer a metalic gold. It looks pretty good. I also geared my bike down too a 14T from a 15T and the thing is wheelie happy now, wow does she get moving fast.

I know what she needs now and thats a blue renthal bar pad.

John Cena, I'm from Hamilton also. Where do you ride powerlines track?

Posted by: jefpel_1213---------------------

This has turned into the all ontarian thread

Posted by: Buj20---------------------

John Cena, i also got an 89 YZ 250, how much did the 450 forks cost? my fork seals are leaking and I might as well get new forks all together. Was their an other mods for the forks to fit, and how do they compare to the older ones?

Also any mods to the back spring?

Posted by: John Cena---------------------

Hi Buj20! I'm not sure what needs to be done for the 450 forks to fit. I got it with them when I bought the bike from Speedfreek. I'm told the rear shock has also be modded inside. The whole bike is pretty much modded. It's got a long rod kit in it too.

Well I was at the powerlines today, There was a guy riding an ATV with his young son.
