Gday People,

I started a new job which i will give me plenty of free time.

Anyway im 22 and from Perth, WA and im keen to get a bike to take out bush to thrash around and learn a few tricks..

I used to ride a bmx as probably most of you did and still play football so im still fit and keen to get out there.

Im after a bike which would be good for a beginner but also something i wont need to upgrade after getting the hang of things..
I just want to get a bike that will last me

Any opinions and comments welcome!

Cheers
Brendan.

what's your height and weight? what do you plan on riding (trails, MX etc)?

I'm a beginner, 5'8" 160lbs and love the 250 four strokes, plenty of speed for novices. Great for both trails and MX. Easier to ride and faster than the 2-stroke equivalents are other pluses.

hmm depending on how tall your are and wieght etc if your a smaller guy a 125 or 250F or something of that nature would be decent if your a big guy something maybe more like 250 2 stroke or bigger. Thats the general rule, of course cash and mechanical skills and ability all apply. There are a ton of choices basically any MX style bike will be hard to ride not easy to learn on and generally require more maintence. Compared to a more trail/offroad style bike like an XR etc.

I recommend you research this some more MX bikes and BMX are not quite close to the same a 2 stroke would come the closest in feel if your searching for the light airy feel when you jump it.

The 4 stroke will be easier to learn to ride, but IMHO, if you take the time to learn to ride the 2 stroke well, YOU will be a better rider.

Of course, this will start a long thread about 2 vs. 4. . .

im 5'11 80kgs.. unsure what that is in pounds..

i have been having descussions with a few mates.. for the kind of terrain i will be riding in i should be going towards an enduro bike and i was thinking more torwards say something like a Yamaha WR450F?

Im 6' 185lbs, I jsut started riding dirtbikes this year after getting off quads, and found a kdx200. very good bikes. I can get around 50-65 miles in the trails on one tank, maybe more havent pushed it yet. I ride with my buddies who have 125 2 smokes and 250 4 strokes, fun to tool around on..hit jumps, race.. I can do pretty much everything on my kdx. check them out, good luck with w/e you go with
