well, I've got my two-fiddy back together after rebuilding the forks and replacing the wheel bearings. I flushed all the fluids and cleaned the crap outta it with a toothbrush. this is the cleanest its been since it came into my posesion a little over a month ago. and now I'm starting to find all the bugs.

THis is what happens when you buy old used bikes. you never know what you're in for. Most of this is minor enough. but the cable boss has me concerned. O'm thinking it may be a good Idea to invest in a juice clutch Any suggestions on fixing this other stuff CHEAPLY?

1.)What oil do you have in the gearbox? 200s and 220s have been known to do that with too heavy of oil. 2.) Jack the front end up until the wheel is off the ground and adjust the spokes until it runs true, (assuming your rim isn't bent). 3) Soak brake pads in laquer thinner. The bearings I would replace.

good idea on the oil. I'll change it, again.

the wheel is straght. just dished wrong

I'll try the thinner, thanx again

Sorry to here about the problems, but I guess you're right. Just don't know what you get with this kind of deal.

Now to my question. My son and are are looking for a older 2 smoke for a play around bike. Have you had a chance to ride it enough to form an opinion yet? How is the power, suspension, etc? There is a '91 KX 250 in the paper for $800. Thought it might be worth a look if it doesn't sell before I get time.

Hard to lose at $800, unless its junk. Not to mention, the OBO part of dickering. I did see one or two older KTM EX/Cs around here (Colorado) for a grand, set up nicely though.

I've ridden it once. and a snow ride at that. let me just say this. The 2-fiddy is worth fixing. My DRZ probably will NEVER see dirt again. the KDX is that much better on single track. (and I have RG3 set up RM forks and a custom Ohlins rear on the Z) as a result, the Diiiiirz has a set of Marchini 17's comming for it. it will now be a SM

Thanks for the report WC. I've been out of town for a few days and so haven't been able to do anything but work. Gotta do that to afford the toys.
