LOL Dave! I saw Okie's post through the preview mode before I opened the thread. And I was thinking.... races won... RC 2 Bubba 1. You read my mind!!

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Not making excuses for anyone, just passing along some info.

Posted by: wardy---------------------

Seeing that, I wonder if RC lead more laps last year then Reed? Or how close it was. Was it last year that Rock won Indy or two years ago? now that was way cool.

Posted by: nikki---------------------

Larocco's Indy win was two years ago (2004) when RC was at home with a bum knee. Larocco had just had his 200th career race the weekend before his win. They gave him a skidsteer and some other goodies (a ring and trip to Hawaii or something?) at Indy during the opening ceremonies. It was pretty cool.... I'm not a Larocco fan, but that's the loudest I've ever heard any race from start to finish.... all 20 laps. Not a single person was in their seats. The RCA Dome was electric.... very cool memory.

not bad for a part timer who turned pro when Stanton and Cooper were around.

Anyone got the Showtime video? Things have sure changed!

Posted by: wardy---------------------

Nikki, you didn't take the bait on that one.......
I figured you would have had the laps figured from last year all done up! your slippin!

Posted by: nikki---------------------

Sorry Ger - didn't mean to disappoint... I think the 2005 SX chart is something like this (I left out the guys like Kyle Lewis with a lap or two):

Laps lead:
RC - 146
Bubba - 66
Reed - 62
Windham - 37

Wins:
RC - 7
Reed - 5
Stewart - 3
Windham - 1

Championship:
RC - 1

Posted by: wardy---------------------

there ya go, see you got the stats within 24 hours, not bad.

Posted by: nikki---------------------

Actually that was about 5 minutes of work

Last night I actually went to bed after working 60+ hours this week (which is 80+ with my happy commute)

Posted by: dirt bike dave---------------------

How about an outdoor tidbit?

On the AMA Page, they have lap charts for 21 of the 24 MX motos ran last year. In those 21 motos:

RC - 258 laps lead
Everyone Else: 56 laps

FWIW, all three motos not charted were won by RC (Red Bud both, Steel City moto 2).

In terms of % laps in the lead, '05 MX was a down year for RC.

That is why the guy is the GOAT. I am not a RC fan but man the guy keeps stepping up to the bar. His determination is like Lance Armstrong and that I can respect.

LOL! And back in the day our leathers, were really leathers.

Posted by: nikki---------------------

tidbit:

# of 2005 450's produced by the Suzuki and Kawasaki manufacturers who had hired RC and Bubba - 0...

Doesn't seem there was any option in the matter. Now, there is.

And here's your 2006 stat:

laps lead 2006 SX
4 stroke - 60
2 stroke - 1

Hmm 61... that first stat of this thread doesn't add up.

Wins
4 stroke - 3
2 stroke - 0

I'm pretty sure #103 Tortelli was was on a RM450F for the 2005 season.

Posted by: ellandoh---------------------

tidbit:
doesnt make a bit of difference what the big three ride, they will lead. there will never be another 2 stroke podium in the pros, and the slimmest of chances of ever having a 2t lap lead....oh well. i can still roost the B class

Posted by: nikki---------------------

Doh - I thought Suzuki used their pre-production exemption with Tortelli.... but I might have my years mixed up. When the heck did the RMZ and KX 450's become production bikes? Either way, it hasn't been very long, probably not a good idea to put your top championship contenders on an unproven bike right out of the box. Now that the big four all have big bore four-strokes... seems the 450 is the bike of choice.

Posted by: nikki---------------------

Roost on ellandoh!

Posted by: oldguy---------------------

Nikki Tortelli ran the RM450 in 2005 as the production exemption
I think this SX is the very first time the KX450 could be run

Posted by: wardy---------------------

LOL gomer told me you were into leather Okie...........Hell i been around for ever and never own a true }pair of leathers.

And how the hell did this get turned into a 2 vs 4 conversation? We all know its like AJ says, "evil empire" does what it wants LOL!!

Tidbit

DirtWeek A/Pro Motos Holeshot:
4-Stroke - 5
2-Stroke - 0

DirtWeek A/Pro Motos Wins:
4-Stroke - 5
2-Stroke - 0

Sorry Wardy.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Okay Nikki.... here's another one for ya.
SX: 2005 and 2006 so far.
Races that RC, Reed, JS competed in. Wins and laps lead.

Posted by: nikki---------------------

Okie - I'll work on that one later

Posted by: nikki---------------------

Here's your tidbit:

2005 & 2006 SX laps lead when Bubba, RC, and Reed were all entered to race - 12 races (didn't count Canada rounds):

Laps Lead:
Bubba - 109
RC - 41
Windham - 38
Reed - 32

Races Won:
Bubba - 5
RC - 3
Reed - 3
Windham - 1

**Note, Bubba entered both the 05 Phoenix and Vegas rounds and ran practice, but had injuries that kept him from the mains (broken arm and injured thumb). Here are the same stats excluding those two races (so the 10 mains Bubba has completed in):

Laps Lead:
Bubba - 109
Reed - 26
Windham - 24
RC - 21

Races Won:
Bubba - 5
RC - 2
Reed - 2
Windham - 1

Enjoy..... and keep in mind, consistency wins titles

Posted by: wardy---------------------

thump how many 2 strokes were even out there? There was one I KNOW wasn't out there.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Ding Dong the Smokers dead, the wicked smokers dead...

Posted by: wardy---------------------

maybe but I am one person that won't ever conviced. And you should look at your board people in here and see that poll, I think more that voted like or ride a 2 stroke.

I guess that means now we can change the "thumper nationals fall classic" to a 2 stroke national series......cool, maybe i should put some effort in that.

Did'nt you say the same thing to AJ when he was trying to get you on to a Honda?

I will admitt, the CR500AF is one of the coolest bikes I have ever seen and I'd have one if I knew how to ride one. I spent more time on Lou's YZ250 at DW (which entailed a couple of starts) than I have ever spent on a 2-stroke in my life. I just ca't get used to them. To me they fell like you are going nowhere then WHAM, the nitrous kicks in.

Posted by: wardy---------------------

Thump we have to do something about this memory of yours. But yep your right, I rode a Maico until 1995. SO, i guess I will defend the 2 stroke for a long time huh? The thing i like about all this, I was PISSED that they cancelled the 500 nationals due to the evil empire not wanting to field three teams. ( and you think they have a choice on what bike they ride.....sell LOL).
Anyway, guess what is back! We are now actually seeing 250 class being what it should be the "LITE" class and OPEN class has returned!
Now we get 500 2 strokes allowed to ride out door nationals and I would be pleased as a pig in .... well you know.

I think i am picking up a new A/F this week, first race at Casey is next sunday!

Posted by: Thump---------------------

2-Stoke, 4-Stroke... whatever. As long as you have a stupid grin on your grill its all good. I guess it is true what they say. "different strokes for different folks."
