I Have A 1997 Kdx 220 Is Pretty Much Standard Apart From Fmf Front Pipe And Pro Circuit Muffler And Boyson Powre Reeds I Guess U Guys Get Asked This Alot But Wot Is Best Oil/ Fuel Mix.
At The Moment It Is Running 40/1
With Castrol Tts Oil And Avgas Is This The Right Ratio To Be Running.
The Bike Is Only Used For Trail Riding And Playing Around Farm On

40:1 is good but why the avgas??

Kawasaki recommends 32:1 but you could run it as hi as 50:1 depending on the conditions. I usually stick to 32:1 though. As far as AVgas goes, you could save a lot of money by just running 91 Octane or higher pump gas. You really are not gaining anything by running AVgas in a KDX. I would recommend saving a few bucks and running with the highest available pump fuel.

Cheers the only reason i run avgas is i can buy it cheaper thay pump gas it cost me $1.33 per litre of avgas.
where pump gas down here in good old new zealnd is $1.44 pre litre for 91 octane & $1.48 pre litre for 95 octane

I run 40:1 with good results.

Wow that is interesting. Over here the pump gas is cheaper than AVGAS.

hi yeah it normally is but as we can use fuel card to buy it it works out cheaper to buy avgas than pump gas.
just our lovely goverment making more money out of pump gas but adding more taxs to it where avgas does not have the same taxs on it

Aviation fuel isn't likley the best choice, regardless of price. You're not doing yourself any favors using a fuel designed to run in an engine at tens of thousands of feet altitude. You're familiar with fuel volatility curves? Such distillation curves are designed for specific reasons..and specific applications.

The octane number doesn't really mean anything when you're comparing two completely different fuels, either. I'm saying a high octane number doesn't equate to 'more' anything...not more power, not more HP, etc. Running a higher octane than your engine requires is a waste of time..and likely money.

Here's some good reading:

Certainly you can run whatever you like in your bike. Might as well make an informed decision, though. Some places (some countries in South America by report) have 25% alcohol blended fuels. I guess if THAT junk is your pump gas option, 'avgas' (whatever that term means in your case) may BE the best choice!

Cheers!

cheers for that yeah it a pain our pump gas here is wot u would call pretty crap, we can high octane pump gas but to get any i have to drive 2 / 3 hours as not many places have it

That's like $6/gallon. Anyway, if you are using a quality synthetic premix, you can run it at up to 50:1 and not hurt anything. I run full-synthetic at 40:1.
