wild boar enduro

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: adam46---------------------

anybody from socal going up north to ride the wild boar enduro @ clear creek. i rode the recent quicksilver at the same location but conditions were hellish (approx. 1 ft. of snow in the campground in the morning, all of which melted off and became thick churned up mud by my minute) anyway, hoping for better conditions for the boar.

Posted by: placelast---------------------

I'm going to help the club, both days. The Eel might be going.

How did you place on the QS? I saw the pix - don't know how you could go anywhere, even the pits!

Posted by: adam46---------------------

i didn't even make the first loop. I houred out with many other b and c riders on a single track that bottled necked with what seemed twenty riders deep. several areas in this area required the help of two other riders to get bikes over larger slick rocks or tree roots.

Posted by: placelast---------------------

My son and I may not make it now as my pickup has a cracked head - is in the shop awaiting part$. The mechanic said next Saturday is a push at best.

We are so disappointed. We might be able to come up in my wife's car as long as camp is not difficult to reach, that's if she's okay with that (doubt she would be though - that's why I have a pickup to begin with.)

Adam, here are pix for the Quicksilver weekend:

Posted by: adam46---------------------

the photos are great! many of them i think are from the single track from hell(loop 1) that i houred out on. instant exhaustion from just looking at them. sure looking forwart to boar, especially since it seems conditions are going to be very similar. look me up if you're there, i have a white chev. tahoe with a blue easy up set up next to it.

Posted by: placelast---------------------

There's no way we're going now - I am depressed: mechanic called to say the other head has a hairline crack found at the machine shop after the clean bath; this is going to co$t, not one but possibly both bikes and gear to pay for it all.

Posted by: adam46---------------------

sorry to hear about your truck, you might not be missing anything though, clear creek may be closed this weekend due to rain

Posted by: placelast---------------------

I'm hoping it's not closed for my sake but that would mean we could eventually make it; when they postpone things it pushes it out a month or so.

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

KelsoRat and I will be there .. were on row 79. Hopefully the weather gods will lighten up !

Posted by: duke---------------------

Hey, "Eel"

Not to detract from the subject at hand, but do you still own the WR125?

Posted by: kelsorat---------------------

Yeah he still has it.

Do any NorCalers have some weather reports for us? I'd hate to make the drive up to find out that the event will be cancelled.

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

duke - i still have it and i'd love to sell it. it's in good shape. i'd be willing to deal.

Here is a site to check the weather.
http://www.wunderground.com/cgi-bin...=coalinga%2C+ca

Check the D36 web site Friday afternoon.

As of today the event is still on. It will depend on how much rain CC gets today, and tomorrow. If it gets more than a .5", it could be cancelled. There is no rain date. The Piglet and Boar will have independent decisions as to whether they run.

Posted by: placelast---------------------

Lemoore NAS? No way my friend; by the time the weather front gets there it's been sucked dry by the CC mountains.

For the most current status may I suggest you call the CCMA hotline: 831-630-5060 or http://www.blm.gov/ca/hollister/Cle...ccma-status.htm

Posted by: Jonala---------------------

But the radar cirlce is so BIG.

Posted by: adam46---------------------

there's a lot of talk in the district 36 forums as well as to the running of the event. click on the northern california enduro link. hoping for a definite answer soon. anyway, i'm driving 8penny nails through my tires tonight in anticipation of massive amouts of snow with a snowmobile as a back-up

Posted by: kelsorat---------------------

Spoke to BLM just a bit ago. Clear Creek is planning on 1-2 inches of snow tonight. It has been raining on and off all morning long. BLM says everyone is calling for the same info (whether Clear Creek is open), and they will not update the hotline right away, because the decision to close will affect quite a few people, and the weather will determine alot in the next 5-6hours.

Wow ! Riding in the snow sounds like a lotta fun !

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

Awesome !

Posted by: adam46---------------------

i was row 47 for the quicksilver-now snow was left-just muddy slush-but it was still alota fun
i'm row 42 for this and anticipating much of the same

Eel

The inquiry was made on behalf of a friend, who based on his expressed needs, was recommended to seek out a used European, purpose built 125 enduro. I am well versed about the bike and shared their pros/cons with him. It wasn't until recently that I recalled some "local" on these forums who had one. The WR/EXC models are as rare as hens teeth out here. In any event, I will forward your number to him. He voiced his interest some time ago, but it wasn't until I posted the original inquiry that I recalled your owning one. I live in Eagle Rock, but he lives a bit farther out towards the "909" region of the world.

clear creek hotline 831-630-5060 is reporting it's open but w/snow and expecting more-yeah

D-36 Wild Boar has been postponed due to the weather.

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

Yup.

Posted by: ScottYZ250---------------------

Any word on a reschedule date? I've heard both the first weekend of April and May...

Posted by: Jonala---------------------

Just posted on the D36 website. Piglet, April 8.
Wild Boar April 9.

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

Posted by: adam46---------------------

We are on for 4/8&9.
4/8 = Piglet
4/9 = Wild Boar

Same route sheet, & if you pre entered, same minute.
If you already went through sign ups before the event was postponed, you will need to walk through again, just to confirm your information.

Hope to see everyone there.

Posted by: the Eel---------------------

we rode for a few hours on saturday and then drove back to LA that night ... straight to mojave and we were gonna camp overnite at spangler and ride the sand hills on sunday morn. totally freezing, windy and snow in mojave , so we just called it a day. however, we went out the next day anyway to el mirage and had a great ride ... the little mountain areas at el mirage are really fun - especially the one furthest to the north of the riding area.

adam - you gonna show at the rescheduled date ?

Posted by: adam46---------------------

wow, you guys were all over the state that weekend!
yeah, i'm definitely planning on being there, i'm not sure when i'm gonna leave though-i teach at a year round school and am off-track in april-it would be nice to get there early and get a couple rides in before all arrive

Posted by: placelast---------------------

This weekend, folks. Who's still going? I'll be there early Sat. morn., white Toy pickup, last showing of yellow bike (before it goes to the new owner.)

Posted by: Farmer John---------------------

Due to work, I will be rolling in somtime late Saturday evening.
Look for a toy box with a 4' DirtRider.Net sticker & a 4' Timekeepers sticker.

Posted by: ScottYZ250---------------------

I'll be there early Saturday morning, but I'll only be riding the Piglet. I'm too slow for the Boar. Besides, 50 miles of Clearcreek trails is 50 miles of Clearcreek trails, regardless what the ride is called.

Posted by: Jonala---------------------

Scott,
This a kinder gentler Timekeepers enduro. They said these are going to be timekeeping events.

Posted by: ScottYZ250---------------------

By the way, I'll be in a Grey Z71 with an '02YZ250 in the back. The bike is set up for enduros (with a computer). It's going to be for sale soon if anyone knows someone looking for a green stickered 250 two-smoke with low hours. The computer will go with the bike...
