Steel Mesh Oil Filters

Does anybody think that the reusable steel mesh oil filters are a good investment compared to the oem paper filters.

Also wanted to know if anyone's used Lucas oil in their thumper and seen results.

You are going to get different opinions on this one, here is mine. I purchased a scotts stainless steel filter for my RMZ,used it the first time I did a oil change. My next oil change I WENT WITH OEM FILTERS AND K&N. First off I do not like the way the steel pleates leave heavy stained oil on them,2nd I spend too much time cleaning them and I still do not feel confident it is clean all the way. With paper filters you know that filter is fresh and clean, spend your time with airfilters.

I have three Scotts filters that I rotate in my YZ250F. It’s not that I love SS filters, I got them for the same price of paper filters.

The thing about the reusable filters is that you have to be diligent in how you clean them. I let the oil run out of them completely. Then I clean them with carb cleaner. After they have dried out, I use compressed air to blow-out any particles.

It’s a lot more work then a paper filter, no doubt. But I’m a cheep-ass and the price was right on these. Not only that, I know I will never get stuck without a clean filter.
