Here's an email Barb from Gophers sent me. I always get updates

Track Conditions....as at March 12, 2006....

This warm weather has arrived just to tease us, as the long range forecast doesn't look near as bright.

The guys spent a full day yesterday pumping water off the low lying areas of the track --- with anticipation
of warmer days and above zero nights to get the remainder of the frost out of the ground. This would
allow us to open for practice within a few days?

But...Mother Nature will predict what is still in store?
Should the nights go below -10C as is forecast, we have no possible opening date in sight? Once the
frost is out of the ground and the water and mud seeps down, things will look more promising; but until
then we can only hope for warmer weather. Our desire is that once we open the track for practice, that we
will be able to remain open.

So stay tuned and we will do our best to keep you informed...

I would like to Vote killerdwarf717 as official Moderator of the Ontario/Gopher Dunes threat section.

He seems to be one only guy that honestly knows where this $hit is supposed to be and he loves the Dunes track soooo much.

He's not afraid to "boot" your sorry a$$ if you say or place anything in the wrong place or bash a Honda.

Um, pardon me sir,,, where was that link to the KDub site again?

All joking aside, this place is normally the first legal place to ride in our area and a dedicated thread is a very good idea, thanks John Cena and killerdwarf717 :-)

Posted by: highflyernick---------------------

Hehe, I'm only a 20 minute drive from Gopher dunes...I'll probably be there on the day it opens....I'm still wondering whether to buy a pass for this year or not?

Posted by: killerdwarf717---------------------

Yep, that's me all right And sometimes I do a little too much And on occasion I have been a But a moderator, been there done that, and I say to that idea

Ok here's some more news ladies.

From: "Barb Schuster" schuster@oxford
Subject: Gopher Dunes hopes to open..

Track Conditions Update....March 19, 2006....for Gopher Dunes

We are sitting on the bubble --- not sure which way it'll go?!?

The track conditions are improving daily & the amount of
water the guys pumped off last week has helped tremendously!

Unfortunately it's the below zero temperatures that is still
keeping the frost in the ground and making the track unsafe for
riding.

As the weather forecast does show some improvement, we will
aim to open for practice by next weekend --- Saturday, March 25.

Not for sure....but we will update you later in the week....

Posted by: killerdwarf717---------------------

It has been confirmed! Goofy Dunes IS OPEN this Sunday! not Sat.

Posted by: John Cena---------------------

Here's another update from Barb.

The Update You Have All Been Waiting For....March 24, 2006....8:15pm

GoPHER DUNES will officially open for practice on Saturday, March 25 at 10am.
We will remain open daily (with the exception of inclement weather).

Load up your bikes & dust off your gear....practice fee remains at $20 per rider.
All riders must sign a Waiver Release upon arrival.

NOTICE: For Minors under 18 --- you must go to www.gopherdunes.com and
print the Minor Waiver Release Form & Parental Consent Form which must be
read and signed by the minor and by both parents. These forms must be handed
in at the beginning of the riding season to be kept on file. Failure to provide us
with these signed forms could deny you from riding.

Spread the word to all enthusiasts --- Gopher Dunes is open for 2006!!!

Posted by: i_955---------------------

Thanks John

Anyone else get an inch of snow last night.

Posted by: John Cena---------------------

Inch of snow? it not even below 0 at night. And plus 6 during the day.

Posted by: Peer Lovell---------------------

Yup, a couple of inches here in lovely Elmira, just outside of Kitchener.
Going to be a couple of weeks yet before there's any riding. Next weekend is shaping up to look crappy.

Posted by: adrenaline420---------------------

I was talking to frank today, and gophers is for surely open. Im in Tillsonburg, and we got some snow overnight. Frank said the track is great right now, and the trails are really muddy for the mud runs...anybody going to the race April 9th at gopher dunes??

Posted by: MX Junkie---------------------

Workin on it.

Posted by: i_955---------------------

Anybody make it out?
How was the track?

Dunes Update...April 5, 2006...

If you were one of the many, many enthusiasts that came out to the CMRC tune-up
practice on Sunday; you would also know that the amazing record turn-out can only
be a true sign of the anxious racers that are ready to hit the dirt!!
Over 150 of these racers also purchased their 2006 CMRC licence, which should now
leave us with a very low percentage of unlicenced members attending the Gopher
Dunes Season Opener on April 9th.
Anticipating a very busy Opener, we are trying to consider all possible time-saving
avenues that will allow for a smooth and steady running day.
Effective April 6, the tracks are closed to practice, in preparation for Sunday's Race.

GoPHER DUNES is hosting the Season Opener Motovan.com CMRC Motocross
Races & ATV Prov. + mini ATV's on Sunday, April 9, 2006.
This race is an "Amateur National Qualifier".

EXCELLENT SPECTATOR EVENT!!!
Food available at the WISECO Pavilion...

Gates open Saturday from 4pm to 11pm. Gates open Sunday at 6am.

GATE FEE: $10 per adult
$7 under 12
Free under 5
Camping: $10 per vehicle

ENTRY FEE: $30 for one class
$25 for 2nd class
$25 for pee-wee class
$20 for 2nd p-w class

SIGN-IN: Saturday from 7pm to 9pm
Sunday from 6:30am to 8:30am

Riders Meeting at 8:05am
Practice begins at 8:15am
Racing from 9:30am to 5:30pm

IMPORTANT Racers must show their 2006 CMRC licence at time of registration.
If you recently purchased your licence and have not yet received it in the mail, you
must contact wendy@cmrcracing.com to confirm that you are registered and get
your assigned racing # & also record your membership #. VERY IMPORTANT to have
this information if you want to race on Sunday!!

Licences will still be sold on Sunday, but at a surcharged rate. We suggest you
arrive at 6:30am (or Saturday evening) if you still need to purchase your licence.
We have strongly discouraged racers from waiting until the Opener to purchase their
2006 licence as it has caused us tremendous setbacks in the past. It makes for long
line-ups, there will be an additional fee, it creates more paperwork, no assigned #'s,
improper scoring, missed practice, delayed races, longer wait to claim winnings and
a late night getting home!

All registered racers must have their assigned CMRC # on their jersey/chest protector
as well as on the front and both sides of their bike and with proper colours.
Incorrect #'s or missing #'s may cause rider to be scored improperly or disqualified!!
For rules, please visit www.cmrcracing.com

MINORS under 18: PLEASE download the Minor Waiver Release & Parental
Consent Forms at www.gopherdunes.com . You must Print It, Read It, Sign It & have
BOTH Parents Read & Sign It.
It is MANDATORY that you bring these completed forms with you when you register
to race. If you have already filled this form out at Gopher Dunes since our opening
on March 25, 2006 but only one parent or an older brother signed it --- YOU MUST fill
it out AGAIN & have BOTH PARENTS sign it (if there is only one legal guardian,
that is sufficient).
ONE MINOR minus NO FORMS = NO RACE ! ! !

What you need for registration so you are not sent to the back of the line...
2006 licence or you must at least know your membership # & racing #
completed Entry Form & signed on back (by parent, if under 18)
cash in hand
if under 18, both signed Waiver Release & Parental Consent Forms
if under 18, a parent must accompany you to sign the participation waiver
racers will receive a wristband prior to existing the registration trailer
The Practice & Race Order with Qualifiers will be posted by the Head Referee.

What's happening at the Dunes after the Opener.....

We will be open daily for practice on weekdays from 10am to 1/2 hour before dusk
& on weekends from 11am to 1/2 hour before dusk. All riders must sign a Waiver
with attendant supervising the premises and pay the daily fee of $20 per rider.
Annual Gopher Dunes unlimited practice memberships are being sold at the reduced
rate of $350 until April 15 ($400 after April 15).

Riders have been coming out to practice, M-X Schools are underway & this past Sunday's Amateur National Qualifier
Motovan.com Season Opener CMRC Race & ATV Provincial attracted a Canadian single day record of 922 entries!
The mild sunny weather contributed to ideal track & ground conditions where even the dust started rising before
the racing wrapped up by 7:30pm.

from 11am to 6pm; plus the remainder of next week.

On Easter Sunday, April 16, the Steel City Riders will be hosting their Season Opener Club Race here at Gopher Dunes.
This race is for registered Steel City members only!

next level of racing skills & techniques.....for more details go to www.gopherdunes.com

GoPHER DUNES is hosting one of our largest events of the season on Good Friday, April 14th. with our Annual
"GOOD FRIDAY MUD FEST". This event is open to 4x4 trucks & jeeps only! Bikes and ATV's will not be allowed.
This is a non-competitive event where the 4-wheel drive vehicles will have an opportunity to challenge their mud-
slinging abilities to manoeuvre through various mud pits and trails.

Gates will open at 8:30am at an admission fee of $10 per person. Truck registration is from 9am to 12 noon followed
by a mandatory drivers' meeting at 12:15pm, after which the run gets underway. All trucks must be registered prior to
the mandatory drivers' meeting!
Refreshments will be available at the WISECO Pavilion.
The Langton and Courtland Firefighters will once again set up Beer Tents serving refreshments to non-drivers.
Alcohol can only be consumed in the licenced fenced-off areas. No Glass Containers Allowed on Property!
Absolutely NO Trunk Bars!!!
Children must be accompanied by an adult. No dogs allowed on property.
For anyone keen on seeing some mud-slingin' red-neck dirt-power kinda' fun --- this is an event you won't want to miss!!

Stay tuned.....for future updates.....

I know where there are some dunes and pits, up on highway 69 an hour north of parry sound down a road called Beckenon Road there are hardly any people there so you can make as much noise as you want. Last time i went there on my old 2002 Yamaha TT-R125 i totaled it i was up in the air i did a tailgrab and the front was coming down to fast then BAM! i went flying over the handle bars and my bike went flipping. The front forks were bent and the plastic was all cracked.
