It's been done... I saw a post here, a guy did that, and it turned out perfect... I think he has a web site or something...

I'm only aware of the kdx200 motor being swapped into the kx125 frame, as that link shows. I'm pretty sure fitting the kdx250 motor into the same frame would be much tougher to do -- probably too tight a space.. But some of the guys who have done the 200/125 swap probably have a better feel for it. Good luck.

That would be a difficult fit; even my hybrid is not a perfect shoe-in as the KDX engine is a port inlet whereas the KX125 donor chassis a case reed. The biggest clearance problem was the head being taller, nothing a heat gun couldn't fix - just be careful.

I wouldn't pick a larger engine than a 200.

again, thanks for the tips. i decided not to go with the hybrid project and just (gasp, you guys will hate me for this) sell the kdx for a more modern production motocross racer. it's going to be a toss between a kx or a yz 250. i'd love a ktm 300 mxc or exc but it's too darn expensive. another thing that made me decide to sell the kdx is my mechanic told me that my piston & ring has seen better days and i'm having trouble finding a replacement here in the philippines. we have wiseco but they are selling it for $150 for the kit. which is too much. any other cheaper brand you can recommend?
