new bike piston,ring,cylinder damage?

Is there truth to the rumour that the kdx220 ports are manufactured with burrs left? I am picking up a new 2005 kdx220 soon and I don't want to destroy the top end right away. Any experienced input would be much appreciated.

The ports in the cylinder don't have any burrs that will scratch a piston but the port IN the piston is a scary situation. These pistons are cast -quite crudely. The material below the port is very thin and contains flow lines from the casting process that in some cases run right into the edge of that port. This is a disaster waiting to happen --and HAS happened to a number of members here. Many of us immediately replace that oem piston with a Weisco. Another solution is to carefully remove those flow lines with a file and sandpaper --smoothing them out. Many others never replace the piston and have no problem --It's a gamble, but expensive if you lose.
