new bike for kiwi kid

hey guys, i just moved to the south island in nz where motocross is big, all my new friends have dirt bikes and stuff, and so i thought i may aswell join them. i am 6 foot 2" 18 yrs old and weight 155 pounds. am mainly just lookin to rip up back yard trails and woods and yeah basically trails. ive never ridden a motorbike in my life although ive ridden scooters if that helps. different people have been telling me different things about 4 strokes and two strokes, i am trying to learn about them but i wouldnt have a clue about it. im not sure of what bike would be good for me?
price would probably around 2000 - 3000 USD
