1) These are my son’s specs—4 foot 7 , 75 lbs-Just turned 13
2) Extremely aggressive ,plays hockey ,great shape
3) MX/SX tracks
4) No, ridden twice
5) I’m sure he will race after putting sometime into it
6) Light mechanics done by me, have motor person available too me.
7) No, thinking of a 80 for him
8) yes, probably get preowned from private party or dealer
9) $2000.00

Thinking a 125 would be wayyyy too much for him, thinking 80cc would be perfect...Any thought would be appreciated .

Thanks

A 125 would be way too tall and probably heavy for a 75 lb'er as well, the 80 is a good choice, for his size and if he wants to race, but not the easiest to learn on.

Thanks, I'm going to get him out more on a 100 to practice, before the purchase..

Unless by 125 you are referring to the TT-R/KLX/DRZ lineup then a 125 is absolutely out of the question. If you are referring to the TT-R/KLX/DRZ they are great bikes to learn on but don't cut the mustard if MX racing is part of the plan. If he can tippy toe an 80 I would head that route, most likely an RM or KX as they have a powervalve and make some more low end than the YZ/CR's without a powervalve.

The 80 would be the choice over a 125 fur sure. I'm 5'4", 145, and the 125 I'm on is really a bit too tall for me.

I was on an 80 at age 12-13 and was quite small for my age. It had PLENTY of power for me until I was 15-16.

The YZ 85 would be a good choice or maybe an SX 85. The YZ has more top end but the sx has more bottom end and is probably better for an mx track.

good luck

Thanks for all your help..

In looking for the 80 what do you think is a "good" price?
I've seen anywhere from 1700.00 to 2200.00 depending on year..

I was thinking 2004 or newer seen for as low as 1799.00.

I just dont want someone else's problem, I guess its just like buying anything used/preowned..Just got to look at all the options

If your thinking about an sx85, 2004 was a test year for it and i've had alot of problems with it, so get a 2005 or 2006
