Shoulder Brace Questions.

I have a couple questions about the shoulder braces offered by 661 and EVS (like the EVS SB03 or 661 Shoulder Support)
I'm a whitewater kayaker and know nothing of motocross riding... I have some significant shoulder problems with infrequent dislocations and more frequent subluxations (partial dislocations)... These braces look like they'd do a good job of protecting me from the kind of movement that causes bad things to happen to my shoulder, but at the loss of some range of motion... My question is: how much do these things limit ROM? How much freedom of movement do you guys need while riding? As a paddler, I need to be able to allow my shoulder to rotate freely from top to bottom (with my elbow bent 90 degrees and my upper arm out straight, I need to be able to move from having my forearm pointing straight down to having it point straight up) but I'm hoping that I can find a brace that'll stop me from rotating it any further. Will one of these braces help in that regard?

The only place it restrictes movement a lot is away from shoulder. That is the EVS it is made of elastic material. It mainly holds the shoulder in tight.
