Ugg! Another FMF pipe that does not fit

Got a Gnarly woods pipe for my KDX and sure enough, just as so many of the posts say, it doesn’t fit!

So what do you suggest I do: Send it back? Or use a hammer and pound a bigger dent where the advancer shaft lever cover sticks out from the cylinder?

Bugger sounds like a pain..
im also waiting for my Fatty pipe and power core silencer for my 90 kdx hope that fits well soon find out

mine fits horribly also, can you show me a pic. I think you may just need to bend a tab. Just take some pliers and bend the tab. if you could get pics though that would really help.

what about the fatty pipe on 89-94 KDX? do you have to do any mods to make it fit?

FmF pipes have in the past come with NO relief for the KIPS shaft.

If that's the only spot that's a problem you would be way ahead of the game time and expense-wise, I'd just give it a whack....or two.

Keep in mind that whatever force you whack the 'dent' with will be felt on the other side where it's nice and round and shiny unless you take care to support the pipe some how other than simply putting it on a floor and pounding on it!

Don't bend the mount tab if you can avoid it. It will get bent enough over a few years use..and bending it back THEN to make it fit again will get you a broken mount.

I just went back to a Fatty, fits perfectly.

hopefully mine doesnt have the kips valve problem as i would destroy the pipe trying to mod it.

Posted by: KdxChode---------------------

just lay the pipe on a bag of sand and whack it with a rubber mallet.

Posted by: QLD_KDX---------------------

Nah, just bring it inside and lay it on the carpet in the lounge room. Just make sure your missus isn't home when you do it

Back on May 1st I ended up calling Rocky Mountain and explained my problem. They were very polite, asked several questions and then decided to send me another one. They emailed me a UPS label, so no postage on my part. That was cool. Hopefully this one will fit right. If not, and its the kips shaft, then I'll take a hammer to it. Thanks for you help guy's. I'll let you know how it goes.

go with pro-circuit platinum 2,fits like it should,performs better,overall a better pipe.imho.

Agree with kdx633 . I also went the Pro Circuit route and fits perfectly .

I have a FMF Gnarly on my '03 200... fits like a glove.

Got the replacement pipe in the mail today. I was able to get this one on. Took the bike out for a ride and it sure livens it up. With new tires and a pipe, I'm happy.
