1) your physical size (both height and weight are important)
--im turning 15 this summer, im 5,6, and 125 pounds
2) How physical / aggressive are you ?
i ride my snow mobile all the time, not sure how aggresive i would be on a bike
3) what do you plan to ride- MX/SX tracks, woods, fields with friends or ?????
--ok, where im in its all prarie, so it's hilly and theres a track in town, so maybe ill take it down there and cruise around (might race once a year)
4) Do you have any riding experience?
--i rode my dads REALLY old 250 2-stroke,thats it
5) Do you think you will race ?
--maybe
6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work?
--my dad and uncle would be willing to fix it if something happens
7) Do YOU have a preferance to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)?
--doesn't matter (my dad wants me to get 4 stroke but i hear the smaller ones are only play bikes and underpowered, so 2 or 4)
8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry?
--im not sure lol
9) How much do you plan to spend on a bike?
--hopefully around $2500 CAD
10) anything else that you think would help form an opinioni - --ive been looking at bikes like kx100, or crf150f
kindoff wanna hit jumps and stuff
yeah....
thanks alot

KX 100, any of the 125 MX bikes, any of the 250f 4 stroke MX bikes.

If you're growing you may outgrow the KX 100. . .

I'm 5'4" and ride a 125 MX bike.

Posted by: Element18---------------------

well would a 230 fourstroke do it? like a crf230f? any other opinions on the kx100?

Posted by: robwbright---------------------

The CRF 230 is a trail bike. It's about useless on a track.

The KX 100 is a fine machine.

Posted by: Element18---------------------

k thanx, do you think a 250 fourstroke bike would be to big, becuase my frend has a ktm250f and it seems a little powerful

Posted by: badRider11---------------------

get a 125 you eont outgrow it fast. and you will like the power, but you might want more power after a couple of rides with a kx100.

it will but you'll outgrow it pretty soon. Same with the 100 although I'd love to get ahold of a kx100 for toying around on. Those things are fun!

Posted by: Darkkoresh88---------------------

well, thats not my accual height, i just took a guess lol
do you think the kx would last me 2 years?
its all prarie here so im guessing i shouldn't get a trail bike? (my dad wants me to get four-stroke but ill im trying to convince him to let me go with a 2)

Posted by: ComradeMikhail---------------------

:O Dad or uncle is going to do the work on the bike, and yet wants you to get a four stroke, he must be crazy :P. 2 stroke would be much easier and cheaper to maintain. For your size I imagine a 125 or 250F MX'er would do what you want.

don't call my dad crazy!!!!
lol jking
yeah but im not that experienced on a bike, would i be ready for a 250f or 125?

Posted by: Element18---------------------

ok, i think a 125 would be a little to much, is a 250f or 125 more powerful?

Posted by: Element18---------------------

ok, i found an ad for a 2003 cr85 for $2500 CAD, would that be good enough for me? i dont think theres a very good chance of finding a kx100
any opinions, or should i go for a different bike

Posted by: Element18---------------------

-ok, im 14, im 5,6, and 120-125 pounds
-im in pretty good shape, ill get more aggressive as i ride
-i plan to ride prarie feilds, pretty big hills, might take it to the track in town every once in a while
-my dad wants to get a four stroke but i hear any fourstroke under 250 are mild and cant climb hills so 2 or 4
-i have very little experiecne on a bike, i only rode my dads old suzuki 250 2stroke down a few rodes a couple times
-planning on spending under $3000 Canadian
-my dad will do maintenance

my friends cousin might said he might sell his KTM125 for $2700
my freind is selling his cr85 $2500
i saw an ad for a TT-R125L for $2500

everyone says i should get a bigger bike for prarie riding, i want something i wont get bored on
thanks

Posted by: WLG101190---------------------

Heh, I am only a year older that you, but I would say to get a Kawasaki KX100 2-Stroke by the way you described your physical description.

Posted by: AxSlinger060988---------------------

I'd go w/ you frineds cousin's offer w/ the ktm! KTM's have really strong engines for a 125 so you won't get bored, and its a little bigger so you can grow into it more. And...its only 200 more than the 85 you friend is selling

Posted by: Element18---------------------

yea, about the ktm125, i think he wants to keep it one more summer so its a pretty big maybe
any other opinions?
i think a kx100 would be perfect but it's kindoff hard to find one

Posted by: kawicam125---------------------

a kx100 has a 34.3in. seat height. im 5'4'' and im riding a kx125 with RAISED suspension( it was raised before i bought it). youd do fine on any 125 other than the yz due to its monstrous seat height. the ktm125sx has a 36.45in. seat height which is VERY low for a 125. id go for kawasaki or honda 125.

Posted by: SpeedyManiac---------------------

Kdx200.

Posted by: Element18---------------------

i think a cr125 is perfect to, are they hard to find?

Posted by: Element18---------------------

what year cr125 do you think i can get with $3000 CAD?

Posted by: Element18---------------------

1) your physical size (both height and weight are important)
2) How physical / aggressive are you ?
3) what do you plan to ride- MX/SX tracks, woods, fields with friends or ?????
4) Do you have any riding experience?
5) Do you think you will race ?
6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work?
7) Do YOU have a preferance to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)?
8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry?
9) How much do you plan to spend on a bike?
10) anything else that you think would help form an opinion
--------------------------------------
1) im 14, turning 15 in july, i weigh 120 pounds, and im about 5,6
2)Im in good shape, i will probably get alot more aggresive the more i ride
3)Will ride MX track, MIGHT race, a pretty big maybe, praire (it's pretty hilly)
4)Ive ridden my dads really old suzuki 250 a couple times
5) probably not, but maybe
6)My dad will help with maitenence
7) my dad wants me to get fourstroke, but from what i hear, anything under a 250F are very mild and won't climb hills
8) honda, yamaha (ithink)
9)below $3000 CAD
10) everyone says i should go for a bigger bike like a 125 MXer, becuase I will be riding open prarie, and very little trial riding. a cr125 or a kx100, or a crf250f would be good?

thanks :-)
