Removing the Baffle a good idea? more power?

I have an 06 ttr-230. Today my buddys new raptor 350 was much louder, i asked him about it and he told me that he removed the baffle from the end of the exhaust. He said it gives you more power.
Is this true?
It does make it a lot louder, but I was thinking about taking it out (its only 1 bolt) only when I ride on my friends private land, which is mostly where I always ride, and putting it back in when I occasionally ride elsewhere (so I dont piss people off and get the cops called on me).
Does taking out the baffle really give you mopre power? it makes sense since more air can flow, but,
wouldnt this mess with the back pressure or something?
Would i have to upjet my carb?
Is it safe and ok for the engine if I ride without the baffle?
i bought the bike brande new and i dont want to F it up. I cant afford a perf. exhaust so i figure this is a cheap way to get a little more power.
All information is appreciated, thank you.

Do you know what the Number One problem in our sport is?

Do you know what most people hate about motorcycles and motorcyclists?

Do you know what you can do to ensure that your riding area gets shut down - even private land?

N O I S E

Keep the baffle in.

Ya, you got a good point.

leave it in.

Can't put it much better than CO did.

Leave it in. The amount of power you might possible gain isn't worth all of the negatives.

Work on your riding skills instead. It's more fun to whup somebody while riding a stealth bike anyway.
