Whats the diff between the AMA title and the World title

Just throw a dog a bone, I haven't been on top of this stuff like I should be. Besides I really like the MX series better.

So what is the diff? Something about two more races?

To clear it up more, RC gets one title, BS gets the other, but I didn't know there was 2.

The first two races were in Canada, those are the world rounds. The US races are just the regular AMA SX series. BS won both of the Canadian races.

Don't forget, Daytona is AMA but not world.
Basically, there are two different sanctioning bodies here, AMA and FIM. All of the US races are sanctioned by the AMA, and points earned go toward their chanpionship.
The FIM sanctions the World Championship, and, as stated earlier, uses the two Canadian rounds, as well as all of the US rounds (except Daytona) to determine that champ.

Thank you.

Yes, and Daytona is why the difference in points. Bubba crashed at Daytona but since that race didn't count in the World standings he didn't lose the points he did for the AMA championship.

I forgot about Daytona...

The World Title is a prestigous title given to the best rider in the world, hence the name. The AMA title is more like a regional award for also rans.

I saw my shot and I took it..

Yeah, the two extra races in Canada, minus Daytona = World Title.

Honestly it seems stupid to me.

Not your post, but the WORLD TITLE. Maybe if they raced in Europe/Canada/Mexico/USA, it would make sense.

Well, Komifornia is it own country too so we could count that one as well. That would be 5 countries.

And the GP's race here? Don't they use the word "World" ?
And the World Series?

About 8 years ago John Cleese was asked why with all his success in the US why he prefered to live in Britian.

He said "When Britian has a world championship they actually invite other countries to play, and when you meet the head of our government you only have to be on one knee."

Other US series:

World Off Road Championship (WORCS)...
World Four-stroke Championships...

Also FIM has the "World" Enduro Championship, run entirely in continental Europe, haha.

I think the only true world motorcycle championships are the road racing series - MotoGP and World Superbike i.e. they actually race in every continent.
