I'm breaking my back trying to lug my 450 up and down of my current contraption.
Back in the 70's, we used milk crates. I don't think that will be tall enough for these high suspensions bikes.
What are others using?

Best stand I've ever had is a Universal ... http://www.universalmotocross.com/p...tands/mono.html
Lift stand: http://www.rhinostand.com/
Haven't seen one yet that would work well on an uneven surface (ie; dirt)

I just used a motorcycle stand i got a pepboys for when i need it in the air, can only really use it in the garage but thats fine with me, plus I can roll it as well so when i'm done working on the bike i can push it close to the wall and out of the way untill i need to wheel it back out. Thos rhino stands look pretty nice though, never seen how stable they are though

Try a 5 gallon bucket. Same basic price range as an old milk crate.

My bike stand is 100% all natural, with a built in scratch and dent protection system, it’s got a stable 30 inch base, it’s got a flat 30 inch top so you can have some area for setting tools, it has a special absorption feature to help retain any oil spill it and it also comes in any size.
I’m thinking of replacing it though with a newer model. The Aspen 32, has a bigger base, yet comes with a built in aroma therapy kit, that will help neutralize any unpleasant odors.

My stand is a custom made 2X4 special. Just as good as any $60 one from a store but a lot cheaper.
