Reed ID? Needle removal? Buy jets?

Reeds are translucent white with a weave pattern (and there are Boyesen decals on the bike). Are these possibly Boyesen reeds? The reed stops are stamped steel, curved, slightly rusty...

Just want to make sure so I don't order new reeds for no reason.

Some reeds look like that. Some Boyesens do.

If they are indeed Boyesen reeds, that is no reason to NOT replace them. Reeds do wear out, they do fail. It's best to replace them before they fail, as said failure can cause collateral damage.

The OEM reed stops are stamped steel, curved. They should not BE on the reed cage if the Boyesens were properly installed...The Boyesens come with their own mounting plate (little strip of metal) and the platypus-like OEM stops come off.

THAT doesn't mean they aren't Boyesen's either.

Buy new reeds..your choice. You don't know when they have been replaced last..even if the previous owner told you, don't believe what he said. ...look (if they are Boyesens) at how they are installed!

Take a look on a number of web-sites for a picture of Boyesen power reeds. They look as you describe.

Hey! How about Boyesen!!??

Thanks for good comments. yeah I already knew what Boyesens look like (website photo anyway), but was hoping to hear what the stockers look like. It's possible the ones in there are Boyesen "Super Stocks" which are stock replacement cheap single stage reeds, they may actually use the stock reed stops. It's all moot now I just ordered new Boyesen Power Reeds. That way I know what I have. Thanks again!
