hi guys, i hope someone can help, my 1992 kdx 250 has ups forks, i recently replaced the fork seals as they were leaking, while apart i checked springs they were just within allowable wear tolerance, so i reasemmbled and reoiled forks, and i have noticed that the ride height at the front is about 3 inches lower than it used to be , im not able to even ride the bike due to the front end being so low, i was under the impression the spring set the ride height and the oil was the dampener, if i have got the oil amount wrong it wouldnt affect the ride height , would it ?. and yes i have checked that ive put the springs back in if any one can assist it would be appreciated, thanks

Oil weight does not affect ride height. You are correct.

Something is definitely not right. It sounds like it is time to open them up and/or take them apart to check it out.

Try to get a blown up diagram off the interweb or from a dealer to ensure they were assembled correctly. Most dealers in NZ are confident with USD forks and should be able to fix reasonably cheap if you get stuck.

thanks for that, definately reassembeld correctly, done it a few times, pulled springs out put on a load tester, found them to of lost 30% effectiveness, orderd new heavier springs , hopefully pick up today, thanks guys

The springs are way soft from the factory. order new springs for your weight and it will solve the problems

thanks for that , hopefully pick up new springs today,
