Will '98 XR250 forks fit an '86?

Does anyone know, or has anyone tried this? I want to use my triple clamps, and I know the tubes will fit. Do I need the caliper and/or the wheel? I have machining capability (lathe, mill, etc).
Thanks in advance for any help.

TobyS, 86'-95' I know they will swap. 96' on was a completely different fork, I believe it uses the same caliper as the CR of that era. Knowing that, I have done a few CR to XR swaps with the difference being the offset and bolt pattern of the caliper hanger, and not the caliper itself. The hangers usually swap caliper to caliper no problem. We use the XR wheel with early model CR bearings and seals and spacer to hook up to the CR fork. A week ago I had both these bikes, I could of checked! I will as soon as the opportunity comes up.
