Getting in shape for moto cross.

I've recently started riding a dirt bike. It's a 125 thats bored out to 133. Many people have said it's a really quick bike and with my height (6'4"), I should begin racing while I can. I want to know what I have to do in order to get in shape for racing moto cross. Which muscles to work, how to work them, what kind of exercises i should do. And where I should focus on training. Thanks in advance,

Elliot

I can't give you much for exercise info but if your interested in seeing what it's like on the track the Manitoba Motocross Association is having a beginner clinic Aug 19th at the track in Gimli. We then race the next day on the 20th. The clinics are run by some of the local Pro's and are a great way for someone curious about racing to get some seat time on the track. Here's a link to some info http://www.manitobamotocross.com/index.php?p=clinic

Basically, for racing, you need full body fitness. Why target train when you can just do it all?

I would suggest lifting 3 times a week and doing HIIT 3 times a week. Also, the BIGGEST part of getting in shape is proper eating habits. Eat clean, 5-6 times a day, get a carb and protien with every meal, and drink tons of water. This routine isnt really a training thing for me, its more of just a way to live. Doing this i feel like a million bucks, every day.

Get you a stationary bike for your liveing room. Start off building your legs muscles, ride 15 min to start with, and work your way up to 30-40 min, it's usual 10to12 miles if you have a digital read out. Then you can start running road work or biecycle. Start off with that. Also buy the MX Conditioning Training & Diet with Gary Scmics, he shows everything you need to know for MX, inseason training, and of season training& Diet! It great! Go to GSMXScom. Check it out you'll love it. Me and my son's do it and it helps out greatly!

the best way to train is to make shure your forearms are strong because your going to be clutching alot during the long race
