Im looking into getting a newer bike (getting to big for the 80) what bike (125 0r 250f) will give me less of a hassle? by hassle i mean by putting in new top end, oil changes...stuff like that. I will end up trail riding it for a little while till good enough to race it. money will be a issue if im going to be spending a TON on my bike.

for racing you would want a 250f just because its a little easier to ride imo, really its all your opinion, you have to try both 125 & 250f and see what you like better

i will tell you unlike some people say, a fourstrokes maintenence isn't that much, the only big thing is checking valve clearance every 17 to 20 hrs or so

Don't come crying here when she blows!

(Edited because my post obviously contained no usefull information. So here is my .5 centavo)
I'd go with the 125. You have a much larger margin of error with reguards to maint. Cheaper initial cost, arguably cheaper maint. costs per ride time, and better skills development because of the peaky powerband.

I would go with the two stroke, It should cost you less to buy and maintain.

thanks for the info!

The new four strokes are great bikes, and are more competetive than the 2-strokes. Having owned both, I'd have to say that the 4-strokes are just a lot more fun to ride (125 vs 250F). All things being equal, the 4 strokes do not cost more to own over time.

However, kids aren't known for keeping up with maintenance. This could result in hundereds of dollars on a 2-stroke and thousands on a four.

I'd get the 2-stroke.
