Good Morning America, tomorrow.

I just heard for the first time on ESPN that he tested negative 3 times after the positive sample. That would seem to be unlikely . . .

A Doctor from the World Anti-Doping Agency was on ESPN radio this morning. He stated that Landis could have used a cream testosterone and it wouldn't show up in the test hours or a day later.
However . . . if you listened to the doctor closely, he also said that for the drug not to show up in a second test shortly thereafter, Floyd would have had to use the cream in an amount which would not put him over the limit anyway. The doctor stated that an injected form of testosterone would have remained in Floyd's system for days or longer.
The clear implication was that if Floyd had used a testoterone cream in an amount which would have pushed his test 3-4 times above the limit - as is alleged - the testosterone would have showed up in the test a couple days later. Unfortunately, Mike and Mike on ESPN did not hit him with the obvious follow up question.
The Doctor also stated that a one time use of testosterone would not give you any performance benefit whatsoever. This agrees with Floyd's statement. The Dr also said that the failed test didn't really make any sense because it wouldn't have helped Floyd to take one dose.
Of course, since the rule is arbitrary, it doesn't matter if the sample was tampered with. According to the Doctor, the rules say that Floyd must be stripped of the title because of the mere presence of the drug. Any proof Floyd can offer that he was set up will only go towards mitigation of his suspension and not to whether he keeps the Tour de France title.
