Have You Checked Your Valve Clearance? You May Have A Valve That Is To Tight.

Posted by: bikercrazy99---------------------

i bought the bike not long ago off the owner of SAS motocross shop, he said he just done the valves and to take it back to him in 3 months for polish the valves again, can valves just change like that after 5 times of going on the bike? (once a week)

Once they start moving, they tend to close up progressively faster each time they are shimmed. If you've dropped more than 3 shim sizes from stock, the valves are in danger of snapping off the heads and need to be replaced ASAP.

I second and third checking valve shim clearance. Goodluck, Steve.

Excellent advice. But since you aren't the original owner, you don't know if the shims have already changed 3 sizes..... or 6.... or..... It'd be best to do a complete top end now.

im going to send it to sas motocross, the bike was the owners of the shop and he said it cost 45 pounds to do. thanks

Exactly the problem with buying used bikes, 250f's in particular.

if your valves are out just a little bit, you will actually be able to hear them tick a little bit, otherwise just hold the guy responsible you bought it from, if theres something wrong he can fix it, it sounds like he is a responsible seller if he wants you to bring it back in three months or w/e
