1) your physical size (both height and weight are important)
2) How physical / aggressive are you ?
3) what do you plan to ride- MX/SX tracks, woods, fields with friends or ?????
4) Do you have any riding experience?
5) Do you think you will race ?
6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work?
7) Do YOU have a preferance to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)?
8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry?
9) How much do you plan to spend on a bike?
10) anything else that you think would help form an opinion
1)6'2 190 pounds
2)agressive enough
3)trails in the woods and mx tracks
4)yes, i have plenty of riding experience
5)i don't plan on racing
6)i will maintain the bike to the best of my ability but the shop will do some of the more complicated jobs.
7)2002 yz426f or crf450r. maybe yz250 or cr250 but i'm leaning towards a 4 stroke for the low end power
8)i have a dealer close by who carries major brands (not that it matters)
9)quality and condition of bike > money...so it's not a huge deal.
10)i currently ride a 2000 rm 125 and i'm ready to step up to a faster bike. i'm looking into 2002 models because they are the last green sticker mx bikes in california.

As far as the 02 models go, I'd probably go with the 2-strokes ... either one would be fine. I'd go with the one in the best shape, regardless of color.

whats generally wrong with the 02 thumpers?

I actually am looking into these same two bikes, I ride with Felix and we both need 4 strokes almost for sure because we do quite a bit of hills and especially trails where you have to go up something steep without being able to get the speed before hand. I know any big 4 stroke will pretty much do this but more specifically I think what Felix is asking is this: What is a good bike for a good price that will be able to make it up hills with low RPM's while still being able to bring onto a track and make a lot of speed for a rider with a good few years of experience?
