Poll: Gaerne SG-10 or Alpinestars Tech 8's?

I have done a little research on both boots and they both get great reviews and are priced about the same. I was curious as to those of you who currently have either one and what it is you like/disslike about them. Thank you for your consideration on this topic and your replies are appreciated.

There are a lot of posts about both, but to summize ....

I've had 3 pairs of T8's and one Gearne SG-10 (05 model). My perfectly good, rarely worn T8's sit at home when I ride.

Holy crap! Me and Okie agreeing with each other twice in the same week. The Apocalypse must surely be approaching!

Seriously, though, I was an Astar fan for years until I broke my ankle last summer in them. Decided I needed something with more support and settled on the '06 Gaernes. A perfectly good pair of Tech 8s now sit in my shed collecting dust as the SG-10s are superior in comfort and lateral stiffness, IMHO. And no more goofy backward buckles.

I knew I'd grow on you eventually.

I have SG-10s and love them. Great protection and very comfortable. The only thing I am not crazy about is they don't come in half sizes. I went a half size up and am convinced I made the right choice over going a half size down.

One of my buddies has top-of-the-line Sidi boots that also have the ankle hinge, and he is very passionate in his praise for them as well.

Sidi boots
also very good boots... for narrow feet. Probably the lightest, great protection boot out there.

I had Tech-8's before I got my SG-10's. The SG-10's are far superior, IMO. If you get the SG-10's, make sure you snug the little fasteners every now and again.

I have had the SG-10's for a couple of years now. They work fantastic for me. No complaints. They certainly held up better than the Sidi's that i had previously.

Well it's a done deal. I went to my local dealer and they just happened to have an 05 pair of white SG-10's. I told him I could get them delivered off line for 280 and he said fair enough will you do 289? Sold! I tried them on and they fit like a glove! I love them I can't wait to break em it tomorrow! Thank you for your feedback it made my decision a lot easier and for all of you who have old tech 8's lying around collecting dust, let me know what size they are becuase I have a ton of buddies down here that would take them off of your hands. Most of them have the entry level "beaters" that are plagued by broken plastic buckles etc and would put them to good use plus it'll give you a lil spending coin. Thanks again, I love these boots!

Not white boots! I made the mistake of getting white T6's. They're not white anymore. Good luck keeping them clean.

Spray 'em with simple green, let stand, power wash. Good as new.

I've had red and black boots previously, they all get dirty, but I did look good today riding in them. I was comfortable all day, even got in over ankke deep creek water and my sox never got wet. I would recommend them to anyone, yes even the white ones

I also found something that works like a champ for cleaning white boots. It's the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser! I had the usual black marks, grass stains and mud on my boots after riding. I spayed them down with a garden hose and then wiped them down with the Magic Eraser, all, not some, but all of the stains are gone. Your hands don't smell like bleach or anything like that. So for all you white boot guy's give it a try, it worked for me.
