My YZ450F craps out on the top end

It sounds like my Grandmother passing gas when I wind it out, do I need to adjust the valves. I have a 04, I have owned about 6 months, I don't know if it has every been done.

The 04 has an awesome motor. It's the punchiest of the 03-05 era 450's. You can check your valves (you should, anyway, to establish a baseline), but it's likely a loose/clogged main jet or some other crud in the carb. I rode the wheels off my 04 for a year and the valves never went out of spec changing the oil about every tank and a half of fuel. If it's an air leak, I'd think you'd have popping on decelleration, erratic idle, etc.
