Oxygenated fuel to compensate for elevation?

I just thought of this so I haven't done any research on it yet. I'm still riding my Y2K XR400 but it's now a 440 with a Mikuni pumper. Runs great at home(3600'). Still trying to dial it in for elevations over 8k. Is it feasible to keep my home jetting in it(or rejet slightly) for those higher elevations and just run an oxygenated fuel to compensate for the thinner air at the higher elevations?

I ran U4 in my CRF450X when I went to the Colorado/Utah border to ride - 5000 ft or so. I didn't rejet and with the U4 giving me back some of the lost power from the altitude, it ran great.

Also, these VP fuels are usually a much higher octane than what's needed/efficient for those hi elevations. Seems that aspect of the fuel would be counter-productive given the drop in compression you see at those elevations.

I just priced the U4 locally at $79 for 5 gallons.

I need to see if there's a local supplier of the Phillips B35 too. Do you usually buy that at a regular Phillips 66 filling station?

I don't think we have Sunoco in this part of the country.
