excessive front shock wear

I purchased a bike about 2 years ago and have only ridden it around 6 or 7 times. Most of these outings weren't very long (a few hours). I'm not really an aggressive rider, I do trails and started riding on a track that has jumps where you get minimal air (under 5 feet). One of the front shocks is already leaking badly. The front shocks were rebuilt right before I purchased the bike. Could it be my weight (215-220 pounds)?

What's the best place to send them that will give long life and will set them to my weight? I plan on sending my rear in at the same time. How much does this typically cost?

If you do, and it weighs as much as you say, look for a severe spanking and a hefty bill!

It is not your weight.

All you need to get a bad seal is letting some crap dry on the fork tube (washing them is not enough and might make it worse, so wipe them dry). It could also only be some dirt caught in the seal, and there are ways to clean them for free, using a business card or similar.

So much fluid has leaked out at this point that I'd need to refill the shock and I don't know what weight to put in it.

So the heavier you are the more they charge to setup shocks for you? I thought it cost like $100 to have the suspension rebuilt and that included setting it up for the guy that was riding. I just don't recall what the name of the place was that the guy had it done at but it was over 2 hours away from me.

Friend, I was just making a funny about the wording of your post. Nothing constructive...just entertaining myself I guess? No offense meant.

FYI, for many years I've used dexron II (ATF) for fork oil. Even in cartrige forks. It's 7-1/2 wt, and has all the right properties. Mucho cheaper.
Just my 2 cents.
