DALLAS (AP) - Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrell Owens today left a Dallas hospital amid reports he was treated for a prescription drug overdose — reports that his publicist is strongly denying.

Somebody needs a hug.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Might want to hear the Press Conference before passing judgement ... the local PD will not confirm that it was a suicide attempt. Pain meds for the broken hand he got last week. Let's of media speculation.

Posted by: evenslower---------------------

I agree w/Okie, but........

This incident aside, he's still a nutjob. Just maybe not a suicidal nutjob.

Posted by: biglou---------------------

That guy's nuttier than a Chinese chicken salad.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Nutjob or not, (yes, a major knob and NOT a favorite in Dallas), but if he did indeed try to kill himself, I'm not gonna bag on him for it. Regardless of the life you have, the $ you make, if you get to that point, it's not something any of us will understand unless we've been there.

Yea go to nfl.com That is the main story.

Yes it is illegal according to the texas penal code.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

So what does it mean that the police cheif said "It's not a criminal issue, it's a medical issue" ?

I see it as a "read between the lines statement", if it was a suicide and that is a punishable crime in Texas, then since he is a super star we wil sweep this under the rug and forget about it

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Now the police are saying the cop was mistaken ... that he did not say he was "trying to hurt himself".

Posted by: Philip---------------------

How would you punish a suicide victim? If he/she succeeds, not much else you can do to punish them.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

"Attempted" is the key word
I suppose it's illegal so you can be forced to get help. Seems unlikely they would just throw ya in jail.

In TO's case, they could send him back to the Eagles.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

He's on Fox, all good "I did not attempt suicide", "I'm good and playing on Sunday". Says he did have a reaction with hydocordone (sp?) and his (natural) supplements. The "35" pills they said he took were in a drawer. Publisist says no one said he was "depressed". His stomach was not pumped. She called because he was not feeling well and not as cohearant as he should be.

Just more media madness. I'm sure they will continue to make a story out of it.

He was just missing some attention so by being vague and offering different versions of the story he get's back in the light so he's happy. NOT having it be a big topic would have left him depressed for sure.

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

Anyone want a knife just to cut the guy's throat?
Maybe it would feel good to cut a rich bratt?

Posted by: Danman---------------------

It's proably media hype. Most guys that off themselves tend to not O.D. on pills. Gun, ropes, or some other manly means O.D. is more of a woman's means. Not to be sexest or anything, but my GF took a lot of behieveral science classes and it was discussed in them.

He's a drama queen, why should somebody else get in the picture that could take away from some of TO's time in the light? Geesh, if anybody is going to get the attention for offing him it will be him.

Curious how this came on the heels of Byron Nelson dying this weekend.

Maybe he just wanted to get back onto the front page of the sports section ...

For those that have been around Dallas and their "sports ego" ...

First Roy Tarpley
Then El-Rod
Now TO

Shoot I forgot Hollywood Henderson ...

Posted by: Patman---------------------

Lets not also forget the other 85 people a day that don't get the same media attention...

interesting... of the two suicides i have known, the guy did pills and the girl put a gun in her mouth.

Posted by: MrLuckey---------------------

His publicist basically called the police officers liars in their press conference. This has nothing to do with money for those that think some are just jealous. If this had been Hines Ward or Marvin Harrison it'd be a totally different story.

Dallas Police offically change the call to "Accidental Overdose".

Posted by: TxCr250---------------------

Okiewan you must be a P1

Posted by: Okiewan---------------------

What's a P1?

Exactly...remind me why this is interesting and worth us paying attention to it?

Did you mean Dallas PD headquarters hung a couple of officers out to dry, basically said they lied on their police report and changed their official view of the events? Or did the officers that responded actually admit they lied about being told that his publicist forcefully removed pills from his mouth, TO stated he was trying to hurt himself and his publicist told them he was depressed as in their official report?

We all empty our pill bottles into a drawer and then leave the empty bottle on the counter right? Lol, I gotta believe this was either a suicide attempt or an extrememly well planned publicity stunt ala madonna, mike tyson or <insert lame name here>

Posted by: Vic---------------------

Think a few more people might tune in to watch TO this weekend?

Posted by: TxCr250---------------------

A "P1" is a "ticket head", a sports radio 1310 THE TICKET listener.
