So many choices!

1) your physical size- 5'6 210lbs
2) How physical / aggressive are you ? Work out regularly
3) what do you plan to ride- woods, fields with friends or ?????
4) Do you have any riding experience? about five minutes
5) Do you think you will race ? No
6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work? I have never done it before but would like to learn.
7) Do YOU have a preference to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)? I would prefer a four stroke. I have been looking at the Suzuki DRZ 250 (I think), the Yamaha WR 250 and the Honda CRF 250X and get really confused when looking at the specs, since I know very little about dirt bikes.
8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry? Yes
9) How much do you plan to spend on a bike? At least once a week, I live in the desert so there are lots of places to ride.
10) anything else that you think would help form an opinion
My brother and I are both looking for bikes he is also my height and weighs about 180. I am pretty sure that I have decided on a 250 but he is unsure. I am looking for something that has a comfortable ride and won't require a huge amount of maintenance. Although, everybody probably says that
. I am going to go new because I am not sure what I would be looking at used and I would not want to buy someone elses junk. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

DRZ 250 is a good bike to star on

i am 14 5'8" on a raised up and modded severly crf 150 idk if you should start on a 250 becaouse i can barley touch on a big bike. or if you wanted to and its not alot of money buy a 125 or a 250f and buy a lowering kit for it.

I sat on a WR 250 and my toes touched, I read that the DRZ is a couple inches shorter. I have not sat on any Honda's yet, so I am not sure about that. There is a pretty big price difference between the suzuki and the yamaha and I do not know enough about the bikes to see if the difference is justified. I also noticed that the Honda's are more expensive but I think that you are also paying for the name there. I am afraid if I get a 150, that I will outgrow it and want to upgrade rapidly.
Thanks for the input, I am going to sit on the DRZ. Does anybody know how these bikes perform, if one is "better" then the other?
