Fat Daddy needs advice

Hello to all!
1-5'10, 300lbs!
2-Beer belly but otherwise good condition, ex-football player, still throwing weights
3-Riding woods and fields with friends and young son on his CRF50
4-been riding since I was a kid. Street and dirt (for fun, no racing)
5-No racing, just playing around
6-not mechanically inclined...a good friend works cheap
7-Honda runs deep in my blood but willing to try anything
I currently ride a ST1300 on the road and have a 2005 DR650SE. Which I intended to use off road while riding with my young son on his little CRF50. Son is moving up to a CRF70 and we are riding more woods with friends. The DR is too big and heavy for the woods. I really don't care 2 stroke or 4, just want some somewhat reliable and fun. I'll be selling the DR. I don't need the latest and greatest, nor the fastest...looking to spend in the $2K range. A friend of a friend has a 2001 CR250R he's looking to sell.
What so you think?

My first instinct is 450, but I don't think you'll find one for 2 grand. The 250 should work for you.

Sounds like maybe an XR400 is your solution.
