What 250 do I get

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I started riding about eight months ago, and I have a yz 85 with a bunch of mods. The bike is too small for me and I want more
power . I tried my friends 250 and I was able to fit on it. It was a blast. So now I'm lookin at a 250 to buy. I'm open for all sugestions, but I don't want a honda. Thanks.

Hey guys. I'm lookin at a sx 250. I've heard mixed things about these bikes. Good and Bad. What do you guys think about these bikes? Thanks

I need some help here. I'm upgrading to a 250. Should I go with a KTM two stroke, or some other kind of japanese two stroke. I am up for all suggestions, but I don't want to go with a Honda. I have heard mixed comments on KTM's. Both good and bad.
HELP ME OUT!!!!!
Thanks

All right, heres the deal. I have heard all kinds of comments on what two-stroke to get. I am upgrading to a 250 and I NEED HELP!
I don't really like Honda's, but I'm open for all suggestions. KTM's, Yamaha's, I just need some help choosing.
Thanks a lot you guys.

YZ. Its an all-around great bike where others have kind of abandoned development on their 2-strokes, Yamaha has continued to tweak and perfect their 2-stroke bikes.
KTM's motors are good, but you need to do some suspension work up them to bring them up the the YZ's level.

I think we could help you a little better if you told us a little more about yourself. Age, height, weight, riding style, what for(racing), how much expierence, ect.
But if your really dead set on a two smoker then welcome and heres my 2 cents.
I just read in a dirt rider/dirt something or another mag. that the top 250 2smokers in running order from 1st to last is...
1. YZ 250 for its great low to mid, with all new great susp.

2. RM 250 great susp. very easy to ride(circles/turing), and the motor has spoken for its self the last few years.

3. KX 250 little vibrations but for the most part a great ride

4. KTM SX 250, brand new design should be up and coming, the new susp. is SUPPOSE to be great.

5. Honda's Cr 250, Honda seems to be paying alot of attention to their 4 strokes then their 2 smokers lately.

Now remember this isn't me and my own little personal order it the brand new 2007's review from dirt rider.

The mention that in the last few years that Suzuki's 250 has had the market stolen away with their bikes. I believe with the RM's being very easy to ride, great turing, and a motor that very easy to work on, the might be your bike. This all depends if you want a brand new 07 or earlier, thats why more info about yourself goes along way!

Thank you for your posts. I'm only 14, and I am just big enough so that when I sat on my friends rm250, I was able to get going, but just barely. Thanks again.

could u even start it?

i recona 125 would be better for u if ur just going from a 85..

Ive just gone from a yz125 to a yz250 and man its so good alot of power..

i say teh 125 for now and when ur older a 250 but thats me

YAMAHA ALL THE WAY!

Posted by: crazshane---------------------

Yeah i could start it. It's a '04 rm250 and i got it started in 2 kicks, and didn't have any trouble going. I loved the power and suspension. it was so much different than my 85, which is way too small now and doesn't have the power that I want. By the way, I didn't just lug the thing, I got up into the powerband. It was great. Thanks for the opinion but I want to get a 250. I've heard a lot of good stuff about the yz250's too. I'm lookin for a newer model.

yz250 is a really nice bike, runs strong and fairly light thats wat I would go with,
PS be patient when waiting for posts, you may not get any if you act like that

Yeah, sorry. This was my first thread and I accidentally posted all of those.

get a 2002-2006 YZ125. going from an 85 to a 250 never ends up good. learn how to ride the hell out of a 125 and you'll become a better rider. it really teaches you how to carry momentum. and, it's not like you're gonna out ride the 125. unless you're james stewart the 125 should last you for a while. and, yamaha has, in my opinion, the best 125 2 stroke. good low end, light weight, strong top end, good suspension, and they are very reliable...everything a 14 year old needs.

I think your to late he's already seen the 250 wheelie machine, his mind was made up before he ever posted its going to be a 250. Good choice the RM's are good machines, but its hard to go bad with any of them anymore. I wouldn't want anything red and uses premix. They've never been a two stroke company. Done as little as needed to half heartedly keep it competitive.
