Bike advice

I am a 29 year old male who has never been on a bike before. I am the caretaker of my youngest brother, who is 11 now. I have always wanted to try dirt bikes, but have never really looked into it much. I would like to get my brother and me each a bike. He is about 4 ft 6 in and weighs about 70 lbs, and I am about 5 ft 7 and weigh about 155 lbs. Of course I do not want to spend any more money than I have to. I imagine we would be trail riders for quite a while (until we learn to actually ride). Any advice appreciated.

I’m going to go against the grain a little here. I’m a 2-stroke kind of guy but if you or your brother either one have not rode at all I would look at something like an xr80 or 70 and crf230 or ttr225. I think you would be enjoying the ride a lot sooner and easier than on the mx bikes. Unless you’re wanted to be an aggressive trail rider or maybe start racing I would pick something tame to begin with. Just something to think about
