rumors has been flying out locally by some of the pros that reed will be back on a 2 stroke for sx this year....anybody heard anything on that? im not pro anything and not trying to start any wars between 2\4 strokes, just curious if there is any truth to this.

Posted by: tony91---------------------

That would be interesting.

Posted by: XRpredator---------------------

it would give him an excuse besides his shoulder as to why he's not winning

Posted by: FruDaddy---------------------

Not likely, the latest news that I can find says that he will be on the 450. But you never know. I heard Carmichael (in an interview) say that he would be riding a 2-stroke last year, then he started the season on the 4. McGrath started on the 2, even got the holeshot once, then switched.

DV12 also started on a 2-T and switched.

Posted by: dante101---------------------

who knows, yamaha's 2 strokes are pretty good... i ride green, and bleed green, but Yamaha's 2 strokes have been ver very good... that would be interesting...

True, as did Mike Brown, but McG was actually keeping up for a few laps. Although I do have a vague recollection of DV12 getting at least one really good start on the smoker.

i dont see why he would switch, he needs every pony available to even try to keep up with JBS and RC

welll see theres the thing. RC isnt going to run but a few select sx's. so basically its up to james to "throw it away". Chad knows hes not near JS's speed, but he is ahead of just about everyone else (though tedesco showed good speed last year and i think milsaps...depending on how his recovery goes, will show some brillance as well)

so if he plays the mike alessi game, getting 2nd place every race and not having the problems of stalling\starting a 4 stroke, he has an excellent chance of winning...banking on the chance james falls and has trouble starting his bike, or falls and gets hurt...both of which has happened to him almost season since turning pro...

Reed was quoted that he thought he would never switch to a 450 untill he actually rode one, but once he did he loved the 450 and now would never switch back to a smoker.

langston=2007 sx champ....you heard it here first

Posted by: MXobssesed4---------------------

i think Villipotto and Josh Grant will be up there in contention

JBS will be doing a lot less falling with RC gone.

villipoto and grant will be in contention...however it will be in the SX Lites class. Langston's on the big blue thumpers this year

question, how old is langston btw? and do you really think langston can beat stewart,or reed, or even rc when he races

Posted by: Micahdawg---------------------

Thumbs up for Langston jumping in.

At least now we will see some good racing between Reed, Windham, Millsaps, Tedesco, and now Langston. Instead of RC/JBS.....then Reed.....then the rest.

The only reason I can think of Reed wanting the 2 stroke is (a) he's probably more comfortable on the 2 stroke (has more time on it) and (b) so he doesn't get caught kicking it on the sidelines while watching the others go by. I'd still be surprised if he goes back to the 2T after spending so much time on the 450 though.

Micah

Langston is 24 years old.

He was 18 when he won the World 125 title in 2000.

450

Reed is supposed to ride the 450, but anything is possible........

Posted by: sp1tekiller---------------------

It would definitely be a surprise, but would be cool to see one of the top pros back on a smoke producing machine.

Ill second that one. Without RC there week in and week out and Millsaps with a broken femur there will not be anyone there to push James to the point where he will have to ride over his head to stay out front.

I believe I read it on Transworld a couple weeks ago, right after the US OPEN. Apparently he broke it at the Millsaps Training Facility. Ill see if I can find the link.

Sheesh Pred take off the tinfoil hat, that's been out there for weeks. They are talking he may be back by A1, although that would seem like a pretty fast recovery for such a major break to me.

I heard this too and I started a thread about it a while back....

This is the story my from the old thread..Apparantly this is the only gas station for miles that leads to one of his riding areas..Yup, a YZ250 in the back of his truck.

"Actually I heard (let me correct that, READ) the story from a guy who's wife works at a gas station in Florida where Chad has stopped a few times to get gas...According to him she's pretty knowledgable on how to identify the difference between a 2 and 4 stroke..Plus when he has come in to pay she totally recognized him and asked "Are you Chad Reed " ? He said "Yes I'm Chad"...

Maybe he is play riding or something..Maybe the guy was pulling our legs...Who knows...But the guy said that Chad has made stops there for gas several times and his wife is pretty sure that it's him."
