I am EXTREMELY interested in buying a kdx 200, but I have no clue what I will do with it. I have experience with quads and 2 strokes, but I've never had to shift or worry about water cooling.

I'm wondering if it's easy to shift, and how does watercooling work?

shifting you pretty much grow accustom to. i was really worried about it before i started riding, but felt kinda stupid that i was worried about such a small thing

Shifting on the KDX should only be difficult if you have no feet . . . if you've only ridden automatics, don't worry about it - a kdx is a OK bike to learn the clutch.

The water cooling on the KDX works like it does on your automobile. A pump circulates the coolant through the walls of the cylinder and head where it picks up heat, to the radiator where the coolant cools as air blows through the radiator, then back to the cylinder and head to repeat the process . . . but you don't have to think about it to enjoy the bike, just maintain it as the manual will specify.

Touche! The water system on the kdx is pretty simple... and I learned how to ride a dirt bike on mine. So it had to be easy to clutch/shift. Good learners bike.
