ive just switched from honda hp2 to belray hr1. this did not help the smoke or spooge from the muffler. im hoping that when i rejet in a few weeks that will cure it. can someone confirm that rich jetting causes spooge and smoke?

Yes, rich jetting is the primary cause of spooge and smoke, not the oil or ratio. If the jetting is too rich, the combustion is too cold and there is not enough oxygen, therefore the motor cannot burn off the spooge/smoke. Pick an oil and ratio (I say prefferably synthetic) and stick with it. Then repack the silencer, clean the air filter and start jetting.

I love Bel-Ray oils for air filter, forks, gearbox but the HR1 just didn't work for me. Switching to Amsoil made my bike run so much crisper. Strider80 is right, pick a good synthetic pre-mix and stick with it for consistency, to remove one variable in your quest for perfect jetting.

I concur, Amsoil is good stuff. I use Amsoil Interceptor at 40:1, seems to work great.

Why wait?

I have gone from BelRay H1-R to MC-1 and back a couple times and my bike (200) runs much better on H1-R.
