Over the summer, Mototalk banded together and helped Dennis Jonon (a fellow Mototalk member) get to the national mx's by giving him money via a paypal account, and also giving him somewhere to stay, providing a trailer for the weekend, etc.. My question to you is, think you could help me get to the GNCC's, OMA's, National Enduro's? hahahaha
this crap is too expensive. my parts boy job just isn't cuttin it. and pro payback in the woods is , well, not all that significant. so, who wants to help an 18 year old pro make a name for himself nationally????
(note, this post is not intended to be taken seriously. i'm not actually asking you guys to give me anything ((though i wouldn't turn it down 
)) but rather, i am stating how expensive this sport is and how hard it is to financially do the nationals, and what little payback we get)

dennis didn't really pull anything off....it was actually kinda started by somebody else on the board.
but, no....i'm not asking. just stating how hard it is to make the nationals happen.....

Gee, why didn't I think of just asking for free handouts before? I mean, do you realize how hard it is to have 2 car notes and get them both paid off by this coming spring so I can be without a car payment when my 3rd child gets here? 
So who wants to pay off my cars? LOL

To Whom it May Concern,
I am writing to apply for sponsorship for the 2007 racing season. I race hare scrambles, enduros, and occasionally motocross. I will be racing the Pro class next year. This year I won the A class championship in the Missouri Hare Scramble Championship series. This is the third MHSC championship I have won in the last three years. I plan on racing the entire MHSC series and also the entire Hillbilly Gran Prix series next year. I will race the Pro class in both series. I also plan to race as many GNCCs, National Enduros, and Black Jack Enduros as I can. My long term goal is to make racing my career. I am looking for sponsors to bring along with me in my first year as a pro and the rest of my career. I believe I would make a good sponsored rider for several reasons. For one, I attend 3 or 4 races a month on the regional and national level. I get alot of exposure because of how well I do. I have built the reputation of being the polite kid at the races. This tends to make people pay attention to me a little more also. If you choose to sponsor me, I would run your stickers on my bike, gear, and trailer. Also, I would make sure and spread the word about your company by word of mouth at all the races. I would also wear your apparel in the pits. I also write a monthly newsletter that I send to all of my sponsors to keep you informed of how I am doing and how I am promoting your company. I would like to take this time to thank you for reading my application for sponsorship and for considering me as a sponsored rider. I look forward to hearing back from you. I hope we can enjoy a long relationship together.

Education: I am a currently in my first year at Blue River Community College.
2006 Highlights:
Winning the A class championship in the Missouri Hare Scramble Championship (MHSC) series. I was also the 200B class champion in 2005 and the 200C class champion in 2004.
Two top 5 Overall finishes in the MHSC series.
Goals for 2007:
Contest the 2007 MHSC Series in the AA class.
Contest the 2006/2007 Hillbilly Gran Prix series in the AA class.
Race as many GNCC’s, Forward Motion Hare Scrambles, and BJEC’s as I can.
I also plan on racing a few Missouri State Motocross races, as well.
Training:
Tuesday and Thursday – Ride at a motocross track or local woods course. I work mostly on corners and endurance.
Monday-Friday – Work out at the gym before school. I try to maintain a good mix of weights and cardio. I focus more on the heavy lifting in the off-season and more on the cardio during the season.
Saturday – Rest and prepare for the race.
Sunday – Race.

Ryan brings up a point - for a guy whose accomplishments speak for themselves (top-5 finishes in any MHSC race means you are pretty darn fast) and is looking to move on to the next level, his location near Kansas City makes it difficult due to the lack of national-caliber races that are within reasonable driving distance. I don't think it's any accident that some of the up-and-coming racers (such as the ones that just won the Junior World Trophy at the ISDE) are not predominately Midwest riders. Take the steady stream of national-level guys that always seem to come from Ohio (not quite the Midwest, in my mind) - the majority of GNCC's and national hare scrambles are a lot closer to them than the guys in between. More chances to prove themselves to a national audience, and see firsthand on a regular basis what it takes to get to the next level.
Not that we haven't covered this topic before...just my 2 cents.
