Would this bike fit me?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I am 6'5 155 pounds i was looking into getting a 07 CR125R (my first bike ever) just becasue i could get it for alot cheeper than anyother bike. The seat hight on the CR125R is 37.3 inches...is that to low for me? I saw that the YZ125 is 39.3 inches which isnt that much of a difference but would it make any difference when i am riding it on the track?

I'm 6'5'' too, 165 pounds.

2 stroke 125's fit me, but I'm making it taller next year. I can easily flat foot it, but it gets uncomfy when I can't "get up on it" and continually have to sit back. My back hurts after a good day of riding also.

if you get the bike and you end up feeling uncomfortable because its a little low you could buy some taller seat foat and make it to you liking.

so in another words that 2 inches really doent make that much of a difference?

dude if your 6'5 forget the 125, you should be looking at least 250 or 450

I don't think the 250 is any taller?

lol.

If you're a beginner, get a 125. 6'5'' on a 125 can get squished at times, but if you're feeling too squished get taller seat foam.

BTW, if you have long legs like me, you'll have a lot of fun in the whoops.

The picture included below is me, on the #41 bike. You can see that I'm sitting back and still flat foot. Mean while, the other guy is 5'7/5'8'' on a yz250. I've rode like that all summer. So I'm adding taller seat foam, due to increasing back pain.

Posted by: jtm994---------------------

How many inches will the taller seat foam make you sit?

I'm not sure...I'd imagine there would be different sizes. I just gotta make the 125 last til I can handle the 250, it sits a tiny bit higher than mine, and I'd be able to make it a bit more higher as parts are more available for that, as opposed to my 125.

Posted by: Josherichy---------------------

they dont get any taller... you wont find a bike taller than a 125 ... in some cases the 250 are lower...

Posted by: robwbright---------------------

I wish my legs were longer. . . 5'4"

for Yamaha and mostly KTM, yes. but for Kawasaki, Honda, their 125 is slightly smaller. for Suzuki, the RMZ250 is taller than the RM250. the RM250 is actually the same size as the RM125.

It's not necessarily the 6'5" thats frightening - its the 6'5" AND 155lbs that is. Il'll bet he's an eating machine too. Wouldn't want to come home from work and look for food in that cubbard!

Posted by: Moose---------------------

155 lbs at 6'5'' is actually pretty thin.

I'm 6'5'' and 165 pounds and pretty skinny.

Posted by: jtm994---------------------

I am there along with you at 6'3 150 pounds

Posted by: kawicam250---------------------

yes, usually, the taller you get, the more you "stretch", LOL.

That was my point - it's really thin considering the height. Many times kids at that age have huge appetites but just don't gain weight. They grow up instead of out regardless of diet. You can grow broke just feeding them!

You probably should be more interested in the distance between the footpegs and the seat than the seat hight from the ground. Being a tall fella reaching the ground won't be the problem as much as being scrunched up while riding. I have a tall seat (2") with half inch spacers under the bar clamps with the clamps turned to the forward mount position to keep from being cramped, and could use a little more room at just 6'2".

i'm 6' 1'' and i have a 99 yz 250 and i also flat foot..my problem is when i jump i'm always hunched over cause i'm holding onto the bars.
How can i fix this. can this be fixed with different set up, or is it my riding?

Raise your bars maybe if you feel too hunched.

But remember, you shouldn't be standing straight in the air.

Suggestions:

(bike)
1. Taller bars (with perhaps less bend) that are rotated up in the clamps
2. Adjustable clamps with risers and the clamp moved farthest forward
3. Foot pegs lower and to the rear (I've heard of this, but never looked into it)
4. Taller seat foam (adjusts the scrunched up feeling when sitting only - does not affect jumping comfort)
5. Buy a Honda!

(rider)
1. Elbows up
2. Not so far forward hunch

Doing both the bike mods and the rider mods together is about all you can do IMO.

Good luck.

Posted by: Badgadjit1---------------------

i'm all about getting a honda..haha...but no money...hah...one day. one day. after college

the hunch just happens i don't know why.

Thanks for the info

+1 to elbows up. keeping your elbows up, especially in the turns/corners, will help you a lot.

The earlier Kristy or the "I'm huge and get over it" Kristy?

For soft supension, have a local shop or MX-TECH adjust spring rates, oil level and valving. Set the sag to their recommendation and life will be good. May require a couple go rounds to get the valving to suit.

Good luck you munchy .......

id say get the yz, because 2 inches is more than you think it is when you sit on a bike, and yz's are good bikes

Posted by: blmmx---------------------

just get a 250

if you do get 125 or 250 get a yz, their seats are a good 2 inches higher than the other brands, so it will fit u better.
