klx300 shifter gear torque specs

i've looked at my manual, but i'm not sure what it's actual name is though. how many ft lbs do i torque that little nut to. the one that holds the shifter gear in. it's a 6mm'er. general torque was 8.5 ft lbs, i think. let's see...

it's a 6mm bolt, not nut. thanks for everyones help

Make it snug. Hold your ratchet at the head, and tighten, When you hold it at the head the torque is much less than at the handle. I personally don't think a shifter bolt requires a torque wrench. But if you have to torque it, 80-90 in lbs Is about right

yes, you're right phrantic. it didn't need much for tightening. no torque wrench necessary. thanks for your input though!!
