Stumbled across this on FM.

Very cool info. That's going to be a good read for us here at the studio. We can never seem to get our sensors spotless and the spots always flare up at the worst times.

I use the Giotto's Rocket blower regularly and then the sensor swabs and eclipse fluid.

So, lickin a finger and swabing with that is a bad thing?

OK guys, I see both you and Okie have the same technique.

Is this rocket science or can anyone do it. Frankly, I am a bit spooked, but I know my camera is DIRTY. I can see numerous spots in the RAW product and am mad at myself for letting it go this long.

Tony it's easy and more importantly SAFE.

Posted by: Chili---------------------

Absolutely no concerns, follow the directions and you'll be fine. To err on the safe side just make sure you only use two drops of fluid on the swab as the only way you'll have any issues is if you completely soak the swab and leave moisture on the sensor.

Thanks guys and hate to beg ... but where is a good place to go to get the kit?

I have only shopped at B&H and have not even been there lately, except to look for a neutral density filter. Do they even carry cleaning supplies?

Posted by: Chili---------------------

I buy mine locally so can't help you there.

Tony - Here's the kit I bought through B&H for dry sensor cleaning :

It works great.

They also have a kit for both wet and dry cleaning that includes all you'll need for a lifetime of shooting : http://www.visibledust.com/products.php?PID=102

Thanks Rich, my kit is on order.
