I was wondering if they would be much of a performance differance from a 02 250 or 125 2t to a 2007? I know there will be plenty of differance in 4 strokes, but since 2 stroke develope ment has slowed, is there alot of a differance?

yes, there will be a significant difference.
Smoother, more usable power
Better frames, suspension, improved ergo's
Lighter weight, and so much more. Plus, there's nothin like a new bike.

Not really, Honda hasn't changed the 250 engine much at all since 02. The actual technology hasn't changed at all for 2-stroke engines since the mid-80's (they even had electronic power valves back then). The 87 I ride is has the smoothest, broadest power band of any bike. The 98 was a rocket ship. The 02's are pretty tame. The early 90's had a pretty strong top end with a good hit. I guess the 97's were a bit of a dud. What I'm trying to say is, with 2-strokes, it newer or older doesn't really describe the engine. Every year has it's defining characteristics.

i have a 2000 KX125 and my one of my friends has an 04' KX125, these bikes are vastly different in power and height( my bike has an aftermarket gripper seat, making it much taller ). his bike pulls like heck of the bottom, but mine pulls forever in top-end and overrev.
