CRF150r VS CFR230

From what I've seen, the 150r is about 23hp and the 230 18-20hp... Is that possible?? That mean a 100 pound rider on a 150r would be in front of a 120 pound on the 230? What do you guys think?

I think the 150 could be a faster bike then the 230, but Im not sure I know the 150 is a race bike and the 230 is a mild mannerd play/trail bike. I am not sure which is faster though, and everything depends on the rider skill

This really is not a fair comparrison. The new CRF150r is built as a very high performance MX bike while the CRF230 is a good beginner or trail bike. In almost all circumstances the 150 will be much faster and better handling then the 230. Aside from the advanced engine is a much better suspension

OK, I'll say it, the 150R will walk off on the 230 at the start, brake harder into the corners, pull harder out of every corner, turn better, and fly farther (all the while, turning higher RPM's). Basically, given equal rider ability, the 150R will step ahead and never look back.
Displacement is important, but so is design intent, and the CRF230F was not designed to play the race game, it was designed to be a fun bike that can be ridden forever down dirt roads and across fields with minimal maintenance.

to add on: the 230 weights 260lbs. wet . while the 150R weights only about 172lbs. wet.

No this is not a fair comparison.

230: anvil reliable and heavy trail bike than can make more torque and more hp that the 150R in modified big bore trim (But not the same power character at all. Gruntin Peak hp/torque of 7-8K versus 12,500+ rpm peak and lightning revving in comparison). Suspension will always be the downfall unless you get radical in your approach (There are several of us that have Showa Twin Camber USD forks with Works Performance Pro Series shocks).

150R: Undetermined (IMHO) reliability and race ready. Light and well suspended and we'll see if the aftermarket can make 30hp. (my guess is it won't be long before it is real close with a 170cc kit, cam, exhaust, etc)
