4) Do you have any riding experience? None at all
5) Do you think you will race ? NNNOOO
6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work? I have to fix it for him
7) Do YOU have a preferance to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)? Nope (better for beginer
8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry? Every thing
9) How much do you plan to spend on a bike? up to $2500 CND.

2 stroke 125?
XR200?

Posted by: 2 strokes for life---------------------

First timer and you think a 125mxer would be a good beginner bike. I wounder how that would turn out.

Posted by: Moose---------------------

little smaller than I was, I too also started off on a 125 race bike, big bore kit too.

how old is the person in question?

Posted by: 2 strokes for life---------------------

14 But, gose crazy when given power like most of us.

Posted by: Moose---------------------

yup. he'll learn to respect it. but if he's in it more for trails, then an XR200 would be great.

thumbs down to the XR200. Put him on a 250f MXer. It is more "rider friendly" than a 2-stroke and is versatile.

So buy a used 250 MXer! There is nothing an XR200 can do that a 250f can't do. There is plenty a 250f can do that an XR200 can't do. Growing out of a bike means spending more money! Remember that. Your "first timer" friend will catch on quick. He will get bored quick on some trail bike...

You won't find a used 250f in that price range up here.
