If someone injures themselves while riding on my property, with or without permission, what bad things can happen to me?

Do like you would a gimp horse and put him out of his misery. You won't have to worry about lawsuits this way.

I've got 50 acres and a shovel.

In missouri if someone is on your land without your permission (tresspassing) and they get hurt, there is no liability to you, the owner. We have researched this in depth because I head up a rock climbing org. and most all the bluffs here are on private property. Check with your state, should be able to go online to the state gov and research legislation about property owner liability and tresspassing and recreational use of property.

As helpful as everyone is around here, it's a DB forums. Asking that kind of legal questions here is kind of like going to a lawyers forum and asking how to do a nac-nac. I'd suggest talking to your insurance co. or a lawyer to be on the safe side.

Call me paranoid but if I even pose that question to my insurance carrier, I'm sure that my rates will go up. Only looking to see if anyone has had any experience in this area.

It is (as stated by trailqueen) more of a legal issue than insurance thing. Call your county atty. and ask them about land use - they are there to help, right?

In Washington State the land owner is responsible, tresspassing or not!
It's simple, people shouldn't be land barons
