First bike... What to choose... =)

I'm almost 13 and looking for my first bike =)
(something that would last me for a few years and even if I grow a lot will still be good 'til I buy a new one)
1) your physical size (both height and weight are important)
5'7'' and 150-170 not sure =P
2) How physical / aggressive are you ?
I am pretty strong/aggressive...
3) Where do you plan to ride?
Trails, fields, tracks, basically anything the bike that I choose can handle
4) Do you have any riding experience?
absolutely none
5) Do you think you will race ?
nope, maybe when I have some more experience I will get a 4 stroke racer
6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work?
me and my dad could keep it healthy and fix minor things, major things would need professional work
7) Do YOU have a preferance to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)?
4 stroke and I dont really care what brand as long as its reliable
8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry?
They have lots of stuff, if they dont have something I'll find it at a different place, so basically anything that can be found in michigan
9) How much do you plan to spend on a bike?
probably $3k-$4k
10) Do you live in California?
nope, south michigan
11) anything else that you think would help form an opinion
Speed, traction, reliability, good suspension for jumping, bumps and whatnot, basically an all around good bike.
I would like a seat height of 35-38 inches, length of 80+ inches long and a width of 30-33 inches.
Thanks for your help =D

dude i was about your age and hieght two years ago and my first bike was a honda cr-105f. it is a reliable trail and/or race bike. bikes like it might be a yamaha ttr-125

I would look into a used 250cc four stroke CRF, YZF, RMZ, KXF, SXF, or a 125cc two-stroke, CR, YZ, KX, RM, SX. You said that you would like a four stroke in the future, but you have a budget to get a nice used one, and they are plenty capable of being a bike to learn on. Anything else will seem too small. You may or may not be able to touch with both feet, but you can adjust the suspension to help make learning easier. Anything smaller, and you outgrow it quickly. If you are looking for a more woods oriented bike, I would look into the KDX, or a KTM EXC, or MXC for two strokes, or the CRFX, or WRF for four strokes. All the bikes I listed can be ridden on an MX track, and in the woods, just remember that they are built for their intended purpose, and you should not get a woods bike if you plan to primarily do MX, and vice versa. I would stay away from the smaller bike, because you want something to last you a while, and that you can grow with, size and skill wise.

Thanks for the reply.
I like the CRF250R, what year model should I get if I get a used one?

Look for used ones around you and then go have a look at them.

Posted by: Blazeiscool11---------------------

Ok, do you think I can get like a 2005 model for less than $4,000?

Posted by: 150rguy---------------------

Im not sure because Ive never bought a 250 used but I think you probably could for around 4000 maybe a little above.
