i am really leaning towards the crf230 as i need a good trail bike but am concerned about having problems with the elec start and is there any other problems with this bike

how long would i be able to ride this bike before it would need a rebuild and i like to ride through the mud and was wondering if maybe a liquid cooled bike would be better

With proper maint. you should not have to rebuild it, its not a motocross bike. The electric starter should not have problems, if the battery dies you can always push start it to get home. It has an o-ring chain so the mud will not be that much of a problem. However, when riding in mud make sure water is kept out of the air box. The crf230 engine is a tried and true design that is similar to the older air cooled motors Honda has been making for 20+ years. Friends of mine have the crf230 for their wifes and my girlfriend has the crf150f which is almost the same, they have not given any of us any problems at all.
