Alpinestars molded sole

This is regarding the molded soles on Alpinestars tech 3, 7, and 10. I understand that the molded soles are cheaper to manufacture, but is there a benefit for the consumer? I went to look at some tech 7's today, and the toe of the boot looked like it would peel, and im considering getting the old tech 6's instead. Has anybody had a problem with this, as thats pretty much the deciding factor for me. If i have a problem with the sole (not just regular wear), does Alpinestars have repair policy? Thanks for the replies.
