86 KLR electrical issues

My KLR250, i'm thinking of buying suddenly developed some electrical issues. There is no spark, and the lights no longer work, as far as i'm aware they were all working fine before the head came off, now, nothing. Has anyone got any ideas ?

There is no battery in the bike, and the lights used to flicker when you kick started it.
